I love that there's no obvious band for next year, makes it abit more exciting.

The second Arctics were announced for glasto, and their new album dropped we were pretty sure it was gonna be them next year.

Not really, they could just have easily have played V or IOW. It was after rawaudioinput met Giddings that we thought for sure they'd be at R&L.

Why is everyone still expecting Arcade Fire :(

Yeah, I don't see it happening - I do think they will play a show in the UK next year but it will be a singular event, not part of a massive tour and it sure as hell won't be Reading and Leeds.

It'd be a pretty rubbish booking too with them only having one album since last time. Although it's a year longer than Blink, they were much better than Blink were in 2010, and I'm sure the album is much better than Blink's.

The thing is they are still yet to headline other major festivals in the UK. Glasto will show others like T, V and IOW that they are good enough (in case that wasn't obvious enough) so will look to book them for the future.

Of course, I don't have a clue whether or not T, V and IOW have tried booking them in the past but either way they're a band always looking for something new so I'm sure next time around they would want to try somewhere different.

Why would V want Arcade Fire?

Was just wondering if Deftones would move up a slot? They seem to come back every two years in a higher slot and I'm not really sure why as I don't think they're a growing band, really. But would it be possible that they sub?

Good point. haha. I was merely listing the other major festivals in the UK.

Deftones won't sub as yet. If they bring out a storming new album which does well commercially then I could see it but tbh, I just can't see that happening. (would love it though!)

I don't know if they need one. Like I said, they've been shuffling up the line up slowly without any massively successful albums and they're not gonna bring one out but I dunno. I think it's probably possible as they sub the other festivals they play. I reckon they'll be back either way.

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
