Best Gazebo

I find the extend to which individuals here wish to be seen to be crawling up Glasto's arse to be rather embarassing.

You know what I like about Glasto? Discretion. The community is by and large self-regulating, and when you try to seperate things into "either everyone does this or no one does" it gets silly.

Now I'm not interested in people getting on their high horse, but I too have a similar dilema. Basically, I like a lot of space so I'm thinking of taping off a discrete swathe of land when I camp. There will be only 2 of us camping, but I really enjoying running around my tent and chatting to my friend from afar. I remember I did this back in 2011, and when I let a passing peasant into my taped off area, they thoroughly enjoyed doing a variety of stunts and cartwheels, until I sent them on their way, so really I'm doing this for the benefit of all.

I plan on taping off between 60 and 90% of an entire field. Now before you start complaining- yes I know the guide asks you not to do this, but as the original poster pointed out, the guide says a lot of things that I have no intention of listening to. So basically I'm wondering what would be the best kind of tape to take with me? Can anyone recommend strengths and textures? How much length will I need to secure the perimeter of the field?

I camp in one of the most popular areas - row mead. Gazebos DO affect my group. There must usually be about 20 of them near our spot, and that is 20 tents which could have taken those places, and enjoyed a really fantastic pitch.

More than anything, what I do not get, is WHY people want to sit at thier tent under one of these things, instead of sitting somewhere in the festival?!? It's like going on holiday and barely leaving the hotel room.

Get a tarp, if it rains, string it between the tents. No space taken up, no hassle of dragging it in site, space freed up for other campers, still have somewhere to shelter if it rains. Solved.

The festival has politely asked people not to bring them, The reasons are clear: camping space is at a premium, and gazebos take up valuable camping space.

To understand this, and still insist on bringing one, makes you a selfish twat.

I would have thought a gazebo big enough for 18 people (even if not all using it at the same time!) and a campfire would almost certainly need an area similar to a decent sized tent...

Has anyone ever approached you at the festival about your gazebo pointing to the Fine Guide? Probably not.

Arguing on here is really doing nothing more than giving people something to read as apposed to watching Eastenders.

That's utter rubbish. Of course we spend most of our time around the festival site, enjoying the festival, but there are times when you want to get a chance to talk to the rest of your friends about where they've been, what bands they've seen etc. First thing in the morning we all get breakfast and sit and have a chat, last thing at night when all the bands have finished we get back to our tents and usually sit and drink round the fire for a little bit before falling into our tents. We have a group of 18 people who all want to do different things so it's nice to have a central place to catch up and have a drink before going off to see whatever you're going to see. Maybe I just can't get inside the head of people that don't come with friends and can't understand why they wouldn't understand that?

That's exactly where the gazebo goes. It takes up no additional space. Which you'd know, if you'd read the thread before replying

Re: drugs vs gazebo, the advice says that GF doesn't condone drugs and they may be confiscated. It doesn't actually say don't bring them.

Unlike gazebos....

Anyway, if you're planning on lighting a fire under it I'd be happy to oblige you with some lighter fuel.
