I would like to invite you all to meet under my 20ft by 20ft gazebo to discuss this matter, i shall be holding the debate at 8pm on the Wednesday. I will have a full list of pros and cons that will be on my dining table that i also bring.

I read this whole thread, and it struck me. Why is there 6 pages of people arguing about gazebos?!?!

Just a thouht - there isn't enough firewood at glasto for you to have a camp fire every night? So some would say you are taking up extra space. I'm not too fussed about gazebo, so long as people used them in an unselfish manner :)

I don't know how it can not take up space, every time we have left a tiny area between our tents we wake up Thursday morning and there's a micro 1/2man tent in it of which you could probably fit 3 under a gazebo, and people who say our "tent circle" how long has that circle lasted without you all sat out on chairs all day Wednesday guarding it with your life, as soon as you disappear into the site for a wander about mini tents magically appear, a gazebo is just a more permanent way of "taping off" a selfish communal area, I don't really care to be honest as I don't even find my tent at least 1 night and try to spend as little time there as possible, it just baffles me as to how it cannot take up camping space, I you leave a 3x3m space without a gazebo then tents would go there and your a fool to think they wouldn't

I would also just like to state that anyone with a gazebo is a c. Just for one second try to imagine how the festival would work if everyone was as selfish as you.

Not everyone can arrive early on Wednesday in order to tape off a massive pitch for themselves.

The way I see it is the same I see the request not to bring glass. I know for a fact that I would behave responsibly with any glass I took, and recycle or take it home with me, but the festival organisers know that not everybody can be trusted to behave like that and feel the need to asked us all not to bring it.

Slight inconvenience, but it's a rule we all seem to happily adhere to.

Unfortunately there is no way to test at the gate if you are going to pitch your gazebo in a fair and responsible way so this year they feel the need to ask us all not to bring them as well.

I am not denying they are great for rain and sun and chilling and lots of other things, but that isn't really the issue here.

We had a group of 4 or 5 next to us last time, in a tent that could have had a football team staying in it. If they'd brought a 'normal' tent and put up a gazebo next to it, it would have still taken up less space than their tent.

We have a six man tent for 3 of us... :ninja:

Playing devils advocate...

It's not ok for us to take gazebos as they take up valuable camping space for us paupers, but it's ok that the Tipi field takes up a large amount of space for a relatively small amount of people. Is it ok as they have paid around £1000 each for that privilege?

Hardly in tune with the 'we're all in this together, one society' psuedo-vibe Glasto holds?

Many many many people will take 4/5+ berth tents for double occupancy. How is that greed for space acceptable, but say a group of 14 having 7 2 berth tents and a gazebo frowned upon?

Ok the festival have said they don't want people to bring gazebos. Where do we draw the line? Will it come to the festival deciding to check tent occupancy, leading to say, a bedroom tax?
