Gazeebos aren't that bad,most people don't take them because its extra luggage so there are only a few around and some of the camping areas have the space,I find tapping off ares far more antisocial and people who use a thousand guy lines for the tent.

Its not the side of a mountain,totally unnesessary.

Hmm.. is that the Glastonbury spirit? Honestly, its not that big a deal to anyone, just trying to point out that taking up valuable tent space space with a gazebo is a little selfish. But if you want to take one, I personally don't have a problem with it. Unless we end up camped next to the loos that is!

We bring tarpaulins for if it rains, which can be stretched between and over tents etc to create an area where people can gather seated down on chairs. It's not ideal and it can get very feral in there, but hey ho. The tarps can then be taken down when it stops raining, revealing a pack of savages that have all but started eating each other.

If you really must bring a gazebo - regardless of the festivals wishes - surely it would be considerate to camp in a less populated field or near the toilets? Then you wont get dirty looks from the poor sun-stroked souls who have to camp in these places, whilst you're chilling out under your lovely gazebo.

On the subject of space and gazebos. Does a camp fire not take up the same amount of room? Factor in the camping chairs around it... I mean that fire could be a tent and in the grand scheme of things a fire is more dangerous than a bloody gazebo.

Ah but the people who get to bring gazebos are more special than you and I. That's why they can bring one when loads of other people else saves space by not bothering. And don't worry because every one who brings a gazebo doesn't take up any extra space apparently, despite multiple pieces of evidence to the contrary at the festival itself. I wish I was special.

I've seen that group near the track Up in oxylers who have a huge gazebo, like the party one above. Then have tents around it. Then tape off their camping area. Tossers. Don't be that lot. Simple 4 legged gazebo over you sitting area is fine.

The difference is that the festival organisers have specifically drawn attention to the fact they don't want us to bring gazebos. It is their festival and their land.

If people intend to bring one regardless of the request not to then they should at least be open about their intended selfishness and stop trying to pretend that they are providing a much needed service to others.

But Carol, you make a great point. People "overtenting" dont get frowned on, but 6 x 2 man tents with a shared gazebo get vilified. Just saying, I'm in a van this time
