We brought one between ten of us in 2011 Two of the group shared a pop up tent that seemed to be like a cullender plus when they were both in it there feet stuck out the door. We all know how wet it was then so the gazebo gave them some extra protection from the rain. But dont worry we where camped near the toilets by gate E.

This debate is hilarious! I have been to Glasto four times, never taken a gazebo and other people having one has never once irritated me in the slightest.

HOWEVER .... this year , there is a sizeable group of us going, at least 16 of us camping together. That means we have paid £3200 between us to come to the festival. Is it really so unreasonable that we should be allowed to have a decent camp, with a gazebo between our tents if we so wish. Is it beyond the wit of the Eavii / organisers to provide sufficient space for all ticket holders, so we do not have to have this ridiculous debate.

Perhaps a compromise would be to ban gazebos in the more popular campsites ie Pennards and allow them on the more outlying camping areas.

Surely then some people would have really long treks to get to and from their camp? Also, I'm guessing that each ticket holder in your group paid the same fee as everyone else - are people camping in groups of 16 any more entitled than those in groups of 2/4/8 ect?

As a regular camper in one of the less "fashionable" fields, I detest taped off areas with a passion (and usually a knife/scissors) - but have become somewhat indifferent to the whole gazebo thing...

A communal gazebo that neighbours/random passers by can shelter under and have a chat when it's too hot to sit in the sun* is a wonderful thing, in a less than over-crowded area.

Obviously a gazebo in a popular area, or with tape around any side is an abomination and those responsible should be banned from registering for a ticket ever again. Bring back the birch, etc...

*I'm lead to believe they can also be useful for avoiding a shower of rain, although that may well be irrelevent this year

I'm possibly being stupid but here's the thing. The Eavii don't want you to bring gazebos. They've been running this festival for longer than you've been born more than likely. They know some stuff, got some event running experience.

Explain to me why you're the special snowflake who knows better than them?

Just also playing devil's advocate for a moment, and I'm not talking about anyone on this forum, so don't take this personally.

I would suggest that , generally speaking, the people who take tents far bigger than they need, so they've got a spare 'chilling' pod, and room for their beer fridge, are the people most likely to also take gazebos. Those who take a tent which is a reasonable size for the number of occupants are less likely to take gazebos as they have a sense of consideration for the other campers. It's not 100% reliable I grant you, but I think as a general rule it stands up pretty well. This may sound a bit cheesy, but I think people with thoughtfulness and understanding at the core of their thinking tend to have this influencing their behaviour. Those who think selfishly tend to do so in all aspects of life.

I actually started this thread to ask which Gazebos anyone could recommend. Preferably one that will be sturdy so it can be taken home and re - used. We a friendly crew and will certainly not be taping off any areas. Ive never took a Gazebo to Glasto before and have never had an issue with other campers with a gazebo by where I camped.
