Lock-ups - any restrictions? Queues?

Hey everyone,

CANNOT wait for June 26! First Glasto since 1997, how did that happen?!

Anyhoo, a quick question. We've booked tents at the Worthy View campsite, obviously a bit of a trek away and hence going to aim to only go in & out once every day.

So I got thinking about taking in a ton of booze on the Wednesday and stashing it in one of the lock-ups. Are they cool with this, or is there any restriction on what can be stored?

Along the same lines, I was also thinking about dropping a bag off possibly each day with some warm clothes for the evening etc. But don't want to get stuck waiting for ages whilst itching to get back to the festival - is there normally much of a queue for the lock-ups, and are they 24 hours?

Thanks very much for any info! :-)

You can store booze in them. You can even store trolleys etc in them. All they ask is for a small donation to charity in return. They are open 24 hours a day and I've never seen much of a queue at them during the festival. I suppose there might be towards the end of the festival when people are leaving eg the Sunday night, but I've never noticed this.

We stay in the campervan fields and do daily drop off of booze and warmer clothing then collect it early evening. We are not day time drinkers.

We keep our tinnies cold in an Igloo back at the caravan, great thread all about them /topic/160810-tips-on-using-your-coolbox/">http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/160810-tips-on-using-your-coolbox/

We have one of these http://www.lakeland.co.uk/3447/The-Lakeland-Cool-Bag to put our daily supply into and even in 2010 our drinks were ice cold after spending a day in a hot lock up tent!

I also leave a spare pair of wellies in there on day one just in case we are caught out by a sudden rain storm :)

I use them as my cash machine! Leave the bulk of my cash there, go back every morning for my daily allowance. We also leave things like phones and car keys there on Wednesday and collect them on Monday morning. They are all brilliant and staffed by very friendly people. And, yes, I do leave a nice donation for the charity as a thank you.

Staying at Worthy View this year so we'll be using them to leave chairs and warm clothes on site.

Lots of people use it for cash and suchlike, and to my knowledge there's never been any security concerns with them. They are easy to use, and much better for peace of mind!

I've used them for my passport and a few other valuables the last 2 years as we came over from Ireland.

Never had any problems. A good idea someone suggested here is to take a photo of your receipt on your smart phone and then email it to yourself.

That way if you lose yuor receipt AND your phone, you can still retrieve it.

Never thought about storing booze etc in there, thats not a bad idea at all.

I left my oversized trolley in one for the whole weekend in 2009 - saves cramming it into yout tent or taking it back to the car....it was ready & waiting for me to start taking my stuff back to the car on Sunday.

They're great....just make sure you take a spare bag to put anything you're leaving there inside.

    • Hezbollah rejected it. Really Israel should get the f**k out, and US and others should support the Lebanese govt in defeating Hezbollah.
