Schoolboy Q's album is going down bloomin' well right now..

Would be a hell of a booking for glasto but I don't think much of the bookers have much/any idea about new hip-hop

Ha ha, the freeze frame for that video link makes me laugh- his face is trapped between two bottoms, with a look of absolute jaded resignation

Kendrick was a Parklife exclusive this year, but in the end he pulled out and didn't end up playing anywhere. Get the feeling he'll go back there and headline next summer, hopefully not as an exclusive as he was supposed to be this time.

REALLY hoping he plays Glasto. Would also love Childish Gambino.

My dream act would be The Roots, but I'm not holding out any hope.

I'd also be thrilled with any of the following:

Kendrick Lamar

MF DOOM

Hilltop Hoods

Bliss n Eso

Doomtree

Hocus Pocus

Jam Baxter

Kanye West

Killer Mike

Earl Sweatshirt / Tyler, The Creator / Odd Future

Nas

Mos Def

Outkast

Pusha T

Dizraeli & The Small Gods

Fliptrix

Akala

But somebody has to suggest them every year, just in case.

I live in hope. They've played before, but they're the less likely of my two ultimate acts (the other being Ani Difranco). I think the three issues preventing The Roots from playing is that they are a big ensemble and it must be a big deal to fly anywhere internationally, let alone a one-off festival appearance; they also have very strong commitments in America, not least their nightly commitment to The Tonight Show; finally, I'd hate to place them at Glastonbury. In term of credibility, they're headliner status, but they never would because they don't have the reach or the exposure. I don't know if they'd be happy headlining West Holts.

Yeah, if they were going to go anywhere I'd say West Holts, but not headlining. Same sort of slot as Jurassic 5 perhaps?

Has anyone been to see Chali 2na on his current solo tour. I'm seeing him on Sunday and buzzing for it after hearing him on Lauren Laverne today.

Interested to see what his setlist has been.

Saw him with Breakestra on West Holts a few years back, that was great. I've missed J5 on their last 2 UK tours - mainly just through money issues. Gutted.

I've been listening to a lot of POS lately - I very much doubt he would play though, he's never even done a full US tour I don't think, and I think he's only been to the UK once (might be wrong on that) with the Bouncing Souls.

Yeah, I rushed across from Snoop to catch him that year. He was ace. Would be good to see Breakestra back actually, tight band.

Ditto! I hadn't heard them before but a mate pointed out on teh line-up that Charli 2na was there with them so made the effort to get over. Good to hear a couple of renditions of J5 tunes at that too

Rumours of a TDE world tour next summer (Kendrick, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q). Don't think it'd be a typical booking for Glasto if they came along but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Also, if they're around Europe in June/ July surely there's a chance of Kendrick, possibly Schoolboy Q too, stopping by the festival.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
