Brutal Love worked surprisingly well as a closer. I was near the front and moved back a little after American Idiot and everyone was singing a long.

I really doubt they'll play it last at R+L though. This was the Uno dos tre tour so I understand that being the closer. I was hoping for a few more new songs last night though. I've seen green day 4 times before so I probably would have preferred a few variations but its hard not to love the set when your there.

Can't wait. Hope they get a mammoth set...and hopefully we see Dookie in full!

I've just had another look at Green Day's setlist from the Emirates (COYG ;)) and it has just hit me that Good Riddance wasn't the only glaring omission. NO BRAIN STEW!? I hope this gets sorted before Leeds :P

Yeah, they'll probably get 2 hours 30, maybe even 3 hours like Foo Fighters.

One thing, people are talking about Biffy Clyro getting an extended set, so at least 2 hours long. How would Nine Inch Nail's set work in the light if that happens? As it's always still light during the sets of bands who have sub to headliners getting 2 hours or more (Paramore, The Black Keys, Elbow, QOTSA, Bloc Party Tenacious D, Arcade Fire, etc)

Nine Inch Nails' set worked perfectly in 2007 because the Smashing Pumpkins only got 1 hour 30, so they were on later, when it was getting dark. Not sure how they could recapture that magic if Biffy Clyro are getting 2 hours or 2 hours 30, and they'll be playing when the sun's still out!

The subs at Leeds are almost always in daylight. If the headliner has a 90 min set the sub finishes at around 9ish and its still not completely dark.

Also depends how late or early the bank holiday falls as if its earlier like this year it gets dark later.

Foo Fighters only got 2 hours 30 last year & I'm pretty sure it was similar for The Cure. Can't see Green Day getting a longer set than either of those, so 3 hours ain't gonna happen.

Just out of interest, if you work for the organisers, or charity at a festival, do they often ask you to do extra shifts than the two you need to do for the ticket? Just wondering coz im a bit strapped for cash atm

He said 'need to do for the ticket' though, suggesting more than that.

I'm doing it with hotbox and I need to do 3 shifts, inc. one night-time and one prime (while headliners are on). There's the deposit of the ticket price to bear in mind as well, if you're truly skint, passing that away for however many months is difficult.

And, if he's not already got a position, he might struggle to, I think they're virtually gone.
