That's why I don't regard Green Day as one of the great live bands. The best live acts I've seen, such as The Stone Roses, Blur, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, the Manics, Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Morrissey, Springsteen et al don't rely on gimmicks (Metallica's fireworks and Dave Grohl screaming "Whoa, YEEEAAAHH!" every two seconds aside), they just get on with it and churn out an incredible set.

Nothing wrong with injecting an element of fun into a live set, but Green Day always seem intent on making the set overdose on it. "Hey, let's invite someone on stage to play guitar for us! And then squirt the crowd with waterguns whilst dressed in wacky outfits! Hey look, here's a trumpet player dressed as a bee! How random! LOL! Hey, let's cover a classic Rock song, and then sing 'I said, a hey-hoooooooooooooo!' every two seconds, and then get the crowd to chant 'Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!' during the breakdown of every single song! Yeah!" It just seems too contrived.

I still think there'll still be nine acts on the Green Day and Biffy days. The Cure and Foo Fighters had extended sets and there was still nine bands on their respective days.

Perhaps Billy Talent in between Skindred and New Found Glory, and hopefully someone to strengthen the Biffy day. Would be good having an older Hip-Hop act in between The Lumineers and Fall Out Boy. Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan or even Snoop Dogg seeing as he'll be in the UK a few times this summer would be a welcome addition and make that day look so much stronger with one change.

Not sure where Miles Kane would fit. I'd say about 5th on Main Stage or 2nd/3rd on NME. Not that I'd be bothered if he doesn't play, the landfill Indie Austin Powers wannabe that he is.

Yeah it's entirely possible that will be the case but the thinking behind there being only eight bands is more to do with the subs rather than the headliners - neither Paramore or The Black Keys had an especially elongated set like people are predicting SOAD and NIN will.

Pulp had 90 mins, The Strokes 75 mins.

Nobody knows what they're doing with set lengths, if Biffy/Green day are getting long headliner sets (2hrs+) and SOAD and NIN long sub sets (90 mins+) it could be conceivable that there are only eight bands, it could also be the case that there are nine and the lower bands get less than 'normal'. Or SOAD and NIN just get the usual 60/75 mins.

Yeah, I guess we'll find out when the times are announced, but I'm holding out hope there'll be one or two additions to the Main Stage to strengthen it. None of the bands below Fall Out Boy would look out of place being bumped a slot down, apart from maybe Editors, but they're hardly that big of a name these days (even though their new song is pretty good, reminds me of The Cult).

I also think Eminem will get at least two hours as well.

    • Very probable. I was a bit surprised by the crowd I saw in the video they drew, and I say that as a big feeder fan. I thought they’d draw a really good sized crowd but it looked rows deep. Chuffed for them though. Still think they’re a great band after all these years.  Rumours at they’re doing a Polythene tour next year too.
    • It sounds like Feeder drew a crowd too big for that stage originally. Given the time period they haven’t appeared at Download as well it's a nostalgia thing. Halestorm vs Feeder wasn't the most ideal but leaving after either to get out would have been sweet at least.
    • You cant see everything unfortunately, it would be Halsey there for me 100%, the last 20/25 of Gorillaz. Halsey would be my non negotiable act on that day myself. Oddly Bleech 9:3 would actually give me an option I wouldn't mind between 3:15pm and Halsey. Dogstar would only likely be a 10 minutes thing of I've seen Keanu lol.
    • I think the tent was just right for Feeder, on that day anyway.   If you had a Biffy-esque day again, or someone of that ilk (maybe Pearl Jam for example), whack them on that main stage. 100%.    As it is, I think feeder will be back and probably high up the second stage or main stage next year or 2028.
    • I think we still have 2 acts to announce each day, maybe one more big name to complete the lineup?   Perhaps the big name is Turnstile on Thursday, which isn't sold out yet. And some other names that could be added like Iceage, Band of Horses or Tomora.
