I'm in general agreement about the NME stage being full of acts that I'm not interested, but happily the main stage is full of acts that I can't wait to see (or see again in most cases).

I accept the point about the change of booked headliners for the R1 stage changing from first album types to more established acts, but I imagine when they were booked Alt-J were riding on the back of the Mercury win and selling out multiple nights at academy sized venues. Just because they've been out of the public eye doesn't mean that they've faded into obscurity since then, just that they haven't turned in to publicity whores.

I don't know if the hype over Alt-J has gone down that much, has it? They were nominated for a few things at the Brits, latest single has been all over 6 Music and Radio 1.

I'm not saying I don't think they're a weak booking, just that they're not really any weaker than loads of the past headliners.

There will be way more people in the tent than there were for At The Drive-In, but no-one on here slagged off that booking ;).

Its a real shame I hate white lies and noah and the whale, dance music (dance stage was on the friday otherwise i would've been at the lock up) and personally i find digitalism shit... Plus I don't mind some of their stuff on record but live they are pants, also I wanted to have a decent spot for MCR.

I had a laugh got smashed and that made MCR even better

On the basis of liking Kasabian and being a dick I claim to be leading the lad point table, although I'd be interested in knowing if man points counteract lad points and therefore if I did something manly whether I'd lose my place at the top of the lad table. I'd like to think that I'd save a baby form a burning building but if I knew it would affect my lad points I might think twice.

It was my understanding that man points are earned by saving babies from burning buildings or completing those belly buster food challenges in restaurants and fixing shelfs etc.

Whilst lad points are earned for generally being a dick so I don't think its negligible :)

how's things back in the UK? got a few more shows here in the states and then its back for the April badboy.

we'll have some exciting news for you next week about stuff.. in the meantime, here's an update on UK tour tickets.

a couple of these (Peterborough for example) have actually possibly still got between 10 and 20 tickets left.. but as this was the last chance to update the poster until next week, was better to mark 'em sold out than not... cos they might even be by now. tickets and stuff at entershikari.com/shows as usual. toodle pip! x

    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
