Never got on with Brand New, partly because I find them to be boring generic US mildly-alternative rock, but mainly because every time I think of them I think of Brand New Heavies. I'm guessing the younger ones on here won't have that problem.

Maybe it's time I gave them another shot at the title.

Yeah that's where I think a lot of the hate comes from, because they made it big so quick and they're no longer as 'cool' to like. Kinda like what happened with bands like Kings of Leon (although they did completely change their sound to appeal to the masses so ignore what i said).

I hate Alt-J because they're boring live & basically all their songs are shit.

I'm not a massive alt-j fan or anything. I don't dislike their music i just thought the hate was probably more to do with them making it so fast. Seems to be a similar hatred for Palma violets (who in my opinion are really mediocre) and the vaccines, who had massive success also very quickly.

love hate the vaccines because their first album was exceptional but they sold out in their second album. Shocking. Similar hatred for PV because they they are simply generically indie. I don't get the hate for Alt-J, i like them..

The Vaccines first album is probably more 'generic' and 'typical indie' than the second.

Exactly, it's not as if they radically changed their sound to be more radio-friendly. If anything the second album is less accessible.

Their first album is the epitome of generic. I don't think it's possible for them to sell out when they were signed and with regular Radio 1 airplay before they played a gig.

Again PV are hated cos their shit. There really is nothing about them!!

The Vaccines are hated because they are distinctly average with about 3 or 4 decent tunes from the first album. They also seem on the occasions I have seem them do that weird waiting thing between songs that the Arctic Monkeys do live...but without the decent songs.
