The fact people actually think DP just press play is ludacris, if your saying that do you think Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers press play too. Going by that i think we could all be top DJ's in the world if it was just a case of pressing play :P

You have more chance IMO of Pendulum being where The Prodigy is, Biffy Clyro being where Pearl Jam are and I'm going to go for Jay Z to be where Green Day are. I don't think pendulum will btw, just based on that.

My actual thought is:

Bloc Party

Dizzee Rascal

Biffy Clyro

Mumford & Sons

Jay - Z

QOTSA

The thought that anyone thinks, wether it happens or not, that Bloc Party have not played this year, and won't headline on a new album next year is a bit silly, they said they'd headline at their last Leeds show I think someone said and they probably mean't it.

The fact anyone think with the likelyness of Biffy Clyro headlining T next year that they'll do anything but headline R&L is a bit silly too.

But Jay - Z is the huge headliner to book along side them, he'd be doing the same as Foo's in heading Radio1 weekend this year then R&L next year.

That also includes 3 headliners that have not touched the Uk circuit this year in tour or festival and two subs that have not either. The other one won't have a problem drawing people in.

Yes Reading needs more hop hop! There aren't too many headline sized acts though imo, Jay-Z, Eminem, Dr.Dre, Kanye West and Dizzee Rascal. But there's plenty more to slot in! Cypress Hill, Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, DMX, Nas, Lil' Wayne. And UK rappers like Bashy, Lethal Bizzle, Wiley, Skepta etc.

One of my friends who's off to V said to me when the R&L lineup was announced, "£200 for tickets? Probably worth that just to see Foo Fighters!" and I reckon people would say exactly the same thing about Daft Punk!!!

If you gathered up a random group of teenagers/young adults (typical age of R&L punters) and played them The Pretender, Best of You, Learn to Fly etc I'd say that about 6 or 7 out of 10 would recognise them.

Play the same group One More Time, Harder Better Faster Stronger, Around The World, I'd be surprised if it wasn't 9 out of 10 people who knew it!

Through seeing how often they're played on the college jukebox (by people who are blissfully unaware that they aren't touring) I'd say they are easily popular enough and would probably the biggest headliner of the weekend. The hype of them barely playing only adds to the excitement

People said that the cure would never be booked to headline R&L, and that pulp could only subheadline, but anything can happen, and Daft Punk are easily possible headliners. I don't think they're as popular as some people think but due to the fact they havent played live in the UK since 2007 and have a famous live set-up would shift a lot of tickets, maybe moreso than any of this years headliners.

And people say they aren't as big as the Prodigy, whp managed to sell out the 65,000 MK bowl after years of touring absolutely everywhere. So even if they were close to the size of prodigy then they could be headliners.

Though this doesn't really matter as I doubt they'll ever get booked for the fest :(

If Festival Republic managed to wrangle the Roses from Glastonbury next year, it would be a massive coup and would be a statement of intent from Reading and Leeds, sending out the message that they have a lot of power.

If so though, please, please, please don't have Noel Gallagher subheadlining. Would be too predictable and his solo album's hugely overrated as well. :P Would love Pixies to sub them, I think those two bands back to back would be the greatest thing ever.

Fuck Stones Roses seriously! Brown has been a weak singer for years and their last bunch of shows were so bad it forced them to quit, FR would of hopefully learnt their lesson from Red Hot Chilli Peppers and not book headliners that are horrible live.

I agree that Ian Brown's voice has gone from bad to worse, and was left disappointed by his performance in 2009, but Squire, Mani and Reni will be the ones holding it together as they're very tight musicians. We'll have to see how it goes this summer I guess. It will either be a huge triumph, or it will be a disaster. Part of me feels they should have left it alone anyway but then again, it is the Roses!

    • It can take around 30-45 mins to walk from the arena back to the transport hub with the crowds, depending on density. Allow even longer in poor conditions. I don't think you'd need to leave Linkin Park early though, you have at least an hour and 20 minutes to walk to transportation. I certainly wouldn't leave early in your shoes, knowing I can just walk to the airport if needs be (2 mile walk and another 30 - 45 min walk depending on your walking speed and conditions.) Maybe just don't linger too long for the toilet / food after Linkin Park have finished.  It will definitely make sense and all just fall into place on the night, don't worry too much and have a great time. The very worst that can happen is a little extra walking to the Airport Skylink bus stop, as those Skylink busses are 100% 24 hour. 🙂  GFS, ICON and ECMWF are ALL in agreement on the latest runs.... After a mildly moist Weds and Thurs, high Pressure building from Friday... Lets just hope they continue to agree... ☀️☀️☀️
