I'm not saying that i don't want to see a mixture of genres at R+L (to be honest that's one of the things that attracted me to the festival in the first place), i'm just saying that i don't think Daft Punk would be as big a draw as some people on here seem to think. Who knows, maybe i'm wrong and they'd shift a shed load of tickets, but to me they just don't seem like a big deal.

Simmer down lads. Daft Punk could headline IMO, but I can't see The Libertines doing so. Surely they would have done in 2010? They weren't even that big when they were around anyway, it's only since they broke up that there's been this whole mythical aura attached to them. I certainly don't remember them getting as much coverage on MTV2 et al as The Strokes, Muse, Foo Fighters, The Darkness and White Stripes who were the leading Alternative Rock bands circa 2002-03. They played 3rd from top when they were still together as well, and before that 6th (when they were touring Up The Bracket). They were probably around the same size as Two Door Cinema Club are now, but obviously with a dedicated, bordeline obsessive cult fanbase.

I will actually point out that the one festival that would get Daft Punk over any is Coachella and they didn't actually headline there in 2006 the last time they played. they subbed under Depeche Mode and then went onto headline Rock Ness 2nd stage and Wiress in 07, which as someone stated on here was not a 70k festival back then.

Top and bottom of it IMO, Daft Punk will not play R&L in favour of an audience that will appreciate it more. As soon as they become available, Wireless, Global gathering and Creamfields will be all over them to play.

I'm fine about the hip-hop/rap route. But I only consider Eminem, Jay-Z and Dr. Dre worthy IMO. Kayne West yes is huge but IMO he is complete w*nk, but then a lot of people like him.

Jay-Z

Dizzee Rascal

Linkin Park

Slipknot

Avenged Sevenfold

Biffy Clyro/Bloc Party co-headline

Mumford and Sons

Sounds good to me but I should think a fair few wouldn't like it.

Rap music is one of the only genres that major festivals don't really cover that much. I agree that rap music should be wider represented, maybe have a day in Festival Republic devoted to it like the Dance Stage?

I think there is a relatively big market for it and it would please the hipsters as they could pretend to be black for a day.
