It isn't going to be a major and the original tweet is probably exaggerating when it refers to a 'big' festival - worst case scenario it'll be a second tier festival like The Big Chill, Latitude, Hop Farm or Rockness or a smaller but well-known one like Kendal Calling, Wakestock or GuilFest (these are just examples, I have no idea where any of these are with their finances/ticket sales/announcements for this year).

Can't see it being Rockness as the headliners are getting announced next week and Lattitude have been mentioning an announcement soon as well. From what I've read on here and other sources I'd say The Big Chill would be the most likely candidate.

While i don't think it is, at the moment. You don't know their financials, they could be living close to the wire Glastonbury was for a bit until they almost didn't sell out and restructured.

Could be IoW as they have had tickets on sale so know how much demand the fest is picking up this year? Even, so think it be one of the fests slightly under them!.

Its seeming almost certain its Big Chill now. Rumours rife all over the net and a friend of mine who is in the industry and has spent much time there has told me its looking bad. Plus Paul obviously knows something.

Just occured to me, just because they said they've sold all its pre-main release tickets, doesn't mean they actually have. I imagine there was no predefined amount in the first place, probably just a cut off time. Tickets sales could have been really bad but Big Chill could have said that they had "sold out" of them to try and create a false sense of demand hoping it would create a real demand on general release.

I've heard from two sources now connected to production on Big Chill that they are unaware of the festival stopping and were still putting plans in place. That might mean that whilst RDB knows it is - those working on the infrastructure have not yet been told.

As far as I can see "rumours rife all over the internet" come from three original tweets that name the festival as cancelled the biggest being Musicians Inc. and Ian Birrell.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
