It's gotta be said, i'm really missing Glastonbury, i've been to the last 3 so i'm by no means a veteran but since i first went in 2009 i've truely fallen in love with the place.

Its usually around this time of year that the forum stops hotting up, with the speculation of which bands will play, little bits of information being leaked, countdown threads, weather threads, tent porn, welly porn, making playlists, airing the tent out and checking the Glasto webcam on a daily basis.

I keep going over in my head what the line-up could be if there was a Glasto this year, and who i'd be going with, where i'd be camping.

How am i going to survive the next 18 months?!

The only crumb of comfort I can give is that it looks like this year will be one of the dullest years for music I can remember (in my opinion!) so it is one of the best years not to have a Glasto (if they need to have a fallow year at all) Lets get this fallow year over and done with and then we can all look forward to another 6 years of Glastos without a gap!

Missing it terribly too - as you say, probably that time of year. Little images and memories still keep popping into my head even when I'm supposed to be concentrating on something else. Still check the webcam regularly even now - can't believe its still going!

Even better then, and presuming the licence will be applied for the period of 5 years then Neil? Is the licence due for renewal before 2013?

yeah, the licence is due for renewal. The licence that's just expired was issued to include upto 2010 originally, and then amended to include 2011.

Whether they'll go for a five fest licence next time I don't know. I'd have thought that the easiest thing politically would be to get a four fest one and then look to amend it again, but the festivals will have a better idea of whether that's the best way to go (if they want five fests of course) than I do.

As things stand now it's really not an issue anyway. The new licencing laws made things far easier for well-run events to get a licence, and Glastonbury now being well-run from an officialdom point of view means that it's just about impossible to refuse it a licence even if it decided to never have a gap year ever again.

Nice to think we'll have a few years in a row after this year. I'm kind of gutted I didn't start going to Glasto till 2010 since I've been going to fest since 98 but I'll more than make up for it in the many years in the future that I'll go!

The thing that keeps me going is thinking that after my last fest of the summer (Bestival) it'll only be a few weeks till T Day!:D

Regardless of whether he could go for a perpertual license, I suspect Eavis will always want to keep local support on his side as much as possible and aim for a 5 year this time round to keep them sweet. Plus his land still needs the break after all. Biggest question for the future I'd say will be how long the family think that they can keep it up. Certainly Michael will likely retire from creative control either 2013 or the year after I'd have thought and what sort of festival a purely Emily run one would be now she has a growing family - who can say.

hmmmm, I think that's over-stated.

It used to be said that it needed a break after 2 festivals, but that's proven to be wrong. The fact of five fests now says to me that it doesn't really need a break at all.

Perhaps i'm wrong, but I'd say that to Emily the festival is probably more "the family business" than the farm is - if for no other reason than she's never stuck me as particularly being the farming type. All I know of her hubby is that he works in the music biz, so I guess he's even less of a farmer.

So my guess is that the festival has a long future ahead of it as long as its popularity holds. :)

That set proper ruined my Friday night, walked through the glade after watching a bit of Flaming Lips and the music and lights proper spazzed me out and sent me into a little hole/comedown, couldnt recover after that !! It was mine and our lass' honeymoon as well, id promised to take her to Arcadia ect, we didnt make it that far.

Only ever gone through one fallow year since I started attending (2006) and I went out to the World Cup in Germany that summer so didn't really pine for it that much as I was busy doing that (also fitted in Truck and Reading that summer)

Not going to Poland/Ukraine this time round so the only thing I have penciled in is the Stone Roses at Heaton Park, plus Bestival in September! Think I might struggle wishing for a Glasto2012, but I guess it will make me look forward to 2013 all that bit more.

Totally missing it! I keep coming back to this firum just to see whats happening. My one dread come October is not getting a ticket. one of two things will happen, the year off might dampen those who would have gone for it this year OR there is going to be MASS blood letting when they go on sale. I will have a small network all trying to get tickets so we hope for the best. My Brothers Girl has been promised her first Glasto at the age of 15 so if we don't get tickets there are going to be tears, lots of them....... not only from her! :D Still, this year i am planning a trip to the Philippines with the Wife, going to Cheltenham fest of Racing for a couple of days, i hope to get a couple of Radiohead tickets this Summer.

Bored today and it was nice and sunny so decided to drive down to Glastonbury and climb up the Tor. The skies where clear so the views all around where spectacular - it was a bit breezy though and a couple of dogs looked like they nearly got blown off the top!

There was a spiritual looking lady wearing a cape stood very still gazing across the vale who did not move all the time I was there and was oblivious to all the people up there...

I would like to go up there in the summer know and watch the sunrise/sunset.
