surely it's just Pardew trying to say he's the boss? It wouldn't be the first time he's lost good players to benefit his ego.

Anyone who carries any sort of power there is being shifted out. Not only will it cause Pardew's failure it'll also take Newc full circle to disaster yet again.

Whether Pardew get much remains to be seen I guess. Possibility that he doesn't get much of the £35m at all, but equally I'd be sceptical to take everything at face value before the window closes. Clubs of any potential targets will know about the Carroll windfall and would be looking to exploit that. Using the media to lower those expectations is pretty much standard practice. If it temporarily annoys the fanbase, they're soon pacified if suddenly a new signing is made etc.

I think you've got enough to stay up, but think reinforcements need to be made to raise morale within the squad. In their mind, they've seen their captain, best forward and club player of the year all leave, plus likely to see Enrique go too when he was one of the better leftbacks in the league last year.

Equally whilst as said I think they're going after a policy of recruiting younger talent in hope of future profit, equally need some experience of the league. (see Enrique, Coloccini etc needing time to adapt in their first years).

Will Forster be no.1 choice between the sticks btw? and what's the prospects for Vuckic? Enough talent to make an impact? Know he's meant to have had a decent pre-season.

Or is it that f**king idiot Mike Ashley? Does Pardew even have a say? Apart from saying "hit me" or "Ill stick" down the local casino? Does any Newcastle manager have a say under that blubbery pint guzzling glutton?

oh, I can't believe that Pardew is any happier at the pisstaking he's had from players any more than Ashley etc are. So while he might be Ashley's puppet, he's surely speaking to them and suggesting changes, some of which he's likely to get.

As things stand it's Houton's (sp?) team with little loyalty from the players towards Pardew - and the 'leaders' at the club were/are trying to undermine him. He'll never get a grip as manager while they're there, so he needs them gone. And so they're going.

Sounds a lot but most of the teams above you have spent that money on 1 player. The way I look at it for everton to move to the next level they probably need 50-100 million investment without losing any of their best players. I can understand why a board would think its pointless throwing 30 million at him when he wont achieve any better.

Didn't know Ronaldo was manager at Real....

A lot of rumours now about this £20m deal from PSG for Berbatov. 20 million for a 30 year old sub? Yes please! Especially with Owens pre season form (5 goals in 5 games) and Welbeck and Macheda back in the squad. Ravel Morrison will be given a go this year too so theres options there.

For all the stick ashley gets, I actually think he has made some very sensible decisions really. Getting one of the best transfer fees of all time for Carroll. Not giving in to nolans ridiculous demands, acting decisively as soon as barton started causing trouble and investing in young european players who dont have the "English premium". He may be stingy when it comes to expenditure and runs the club more like a business than other chairman who are happy to go into debt. However I think there are chairman running clubs far worse than Ashley.

Newc have been sitting back and waiting for offers for Barton. None came, so they want rid on a free.

Yesterday the noises from Barton's upstanding-and-defo-not-dodgy agent () were that the world's top clubs couldn't contain their excitement at the thought of getting Barton on a free. The names 'Man Utd', 'Arsenal', and 'Spurs' were mentioned.

Today, Barton is threatening to sit out his contract.

Of course, there's no reletionship between those things, none at all.

It seems like no one wants Barton, at least not unless Newc are going to pick up some of his wages. Oh dear.

Hes a good player on his day.

He is. But he's also on high wages, and has a deserved bad reputation.

At any 'top' club he's only going to be a squad player. So any sane 'top' manager would think that those high wages plus the risk of trouble within the club makes him someone they don't want (tho that still leaves 'Arry :P).

And while the lesser clubs would make more use of him, those high wages and bad reputation probably make him too expensive for them too, even when he's 'free'.

I can see someone somewhere losing some face over this. For once I hope it's not Ashley, but Barton instead.

Former Real Madrid youngster Jaime Navarro has snubbed the chance of Premier League football to join Kettering Town.

Navarro, 19, enjoyed a successful trial at Bolton Wanderers and boss Owen Coyle offered him a contract. But the ambitious Blue Square Premier outfit made an 11th hour bid for the free agent, who was advised by Cristiano Ronaldo to try his luck in England.

To Daily Mail reporter Bob Cass, who attributed quotes to Fergie pretty much giving Sneijder an ultimatum.

Fergie: "What was that f**king quote on today/I'm gonna f**king glog you today"

Cass: "do you think I'd quote you, I'll send you the copy I sent, ya better believe it"

Fergie: ya know what, you and your paper can f**k off!"
