Giggs has said he wants him and Beckham to play for GB in the Olympic football. Tbh it never occured to me he would want to play as he's retired for Wales.

Also why are games being played at Old Trafford & the Millennium Stadium? There's plenty of grounds in and around London.

It's only micky mouse if you believe football begins and ends in Europe. Brazil and Uruguay are desperate to win. Beckham would struggle to be in the top 3 over 23 players in la galaxy, never mind the non euro 2012 UK.

Isn't it better to attempt to bring some new in to be around the squad, rather than take an experienced player off his holidays as some kind of consolation prize?

Depends if he's actually gonna be used or not, Richards is only a year older so it's not the case he's building for the future and he was ignored under Capello and Woy said the reason he wasn't included was Jones can cover 2 postions. Not that I agree or disagree but it's stuff like this why Foster and Carragher quit international football.

With regards to AVB, I would like to see him at Liverpool, but think he'd have to be careful to ensure he isn't dominated by the senior players (no jokes please) as it appears he was at Chelsea.

Difference is, Richards has been involved with the senior team before. It may only be thirteen caps, but that's a lot of experience in international terms. Kelly will get a lot more experience out of being taken and not used, than Richards will by being called back off holiday, only to sit on the bench.

I think Rick Parry is speaking rubbish saying champions league is a minimum requirement. A clubs minimum requirement has to be linked with the strength of the opposition and the funding you get to invest in players yourself.

Another couple of random points, Im sad to see Drogba leave the premiership, he had some bad moments but I think his heart is in the right place. Also by a comfortable margin the best big game player in my 20 years watching English football.

Also listening to the radio before only 4 managers were sacked from start to end of the premiership season, is this a record low? I get the impression lower clubs are in general deciding its not worth the money as only 2 of the 4 were relegation contender. I think in Italy there were 18 changes!

I dont agree, at least AVB has experience of consistent success over a whole season with porto. If Martinez gets the job he is being judged on having a good final third of the season at wigan. If he does get the job I would hope he does well, as its impossible not to like him. However if he is so great, what was he doing the first few months of the season.
