Stones "announcement" will be press and pr led I guess rather than any thing from eavis or their mouths, Just like the "in negotation". Headlines. I'm sure we will get to know here before any of the above, which may increase demand in resale. There's always a reason for timing, otherwise it will be all done by now surely??

you would defo know about 3 others when you heard them I'd say. The usual catchy numbers.

I reckon the people who churn out these types of songs are genuises, really. It is an incredible talent to make this kind of music over and over and over I reckon.

I have to admit I've always envied that kind of talent. And it is, (surely?) an incredible talent to make gazillions of pounds out of the same three/four chord trick that has been used over and over and over again by countless acts and make it sound new and current. A genius for new melodies is the hard bit methinks.

Anyway, I came to this thread 'coz I;ve just got back from the pub and read in their The Sun's Bizzarre column that it's Arctics, Stones and Mumford. Now maybe (no, not maybe, I know) my memory's not what it was, but don't Bizzarre/NOTW generally have a good track record of being spot on about these things?

I'm perfectly aware of the stated reasons. But that doesn't mean they're the real reasons. I'm probably being very cynical. It probably was set up for those reasons, but I have an accountant friend who assures me that having the full payment fall the otherside of 1st April is very convenient for the festival's accounts.

They just happened to pluck the 2nd April for payment out of thin air?

    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
