2013 Headliners

Pyramid:

Lady Gaga - She is obviously big enough and has enough hits. Possibly even more by 2013.

Arcade Fire - Arcade fire should be one the headliners, nuff said.

David Bowie - He needs to go out with a bang, and this could be the perfect oppertunity.

(I would like Pulp to headline one the days but this all depends if they are still around.)

Other:

Mumford and Sons - Another sucessful album and I can see it happening.

Kanye West - Not sure if he would play unless pyramid but its a good shout.

The Libertines - Could happen, I can imagine Pete and Carl cashing in again.

I honestly don't see why people are saying Gaga, she's a big at the minute but in my opinion she's got as much as talent as a f**king thimble.

They do book people from all different genres of music but they're all very talented musicians, she isn't, she's created a bit of controversy by wearing a cow to an awards ceremony or whatever she did, Beyonce's headlining slot this year was a pop artist headlining The Pyramid but a pop artist with a f**king huuuuuuuge amount of talent. I hope The Eavis's would never approach her.

Are Arcade Fire really big enough to headline The Pyramid?? I reckon headlining the Other Stage is more Realistic, my ideal line-up would be:

Friday

Pyramid

Pulp

Groove Armada

Other

Kanye West

Janelle Monae

Saturday

Pyramid

Radiohead

The Flaming Lips

Other

R.E.M

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Sunday

Pyramid

David Bowie & Arcade Fire (Special 3 hour co-headlining slot with an Hour of Each then a collaborative hour to finish off as seen in central park in 2005)

PJ Harvey

Other

Daft Punk

Jamiroquai

Before I start getting abuse I understand that this will never happen.

I was definitely a little hasty with that comment I knew she was a classically trained musician but her music is written specifically to make money. I think booking her would be a step to far for Glastonbury. Do you thinks she would fit in properly and do you think that people would take to the booking well??

She doesn't write music for people to enjoy is what I'm saying. She writes music specifically for the teen market to pay money for, there's no back bone to the music that she writes. She may be classically trained in playing instruments but she doesn't play them live on stage not from what I've seen anyway. Kylie Minogue, Beyonce and Jay-Z all write music that they enjoy, Lady Gaga is just simply a money maker. The others were writing music because it is what they wanted to do and they were signed because the record labels realised that the music they writing could make and did make money unlike Gaga who's music is written initially to make money. If she is a classically trained musician then why does she write the music that she does? At the beginning of the careers of the other artists mentioned they weren't initially writing music thinking this will make me a millionaire (unlike Lady Gaga) that will change with fame, fortune and laziness over time obviously.

Regardless of that point her sound doesn't fit Glastonbury, I know it's a music festival that caters for all genres of music but Glastonbury will never or should never be aimed towards 13 - 17 year old girls, which is what Lady Gaga's targeted audience is. Kylie Minogue, Beyonce and Jay-Z all have a wide age-ranged fanbase. People went f**king mad when Jessie J was booked and she was only half way up the line-up on the Other Stage, what would happen if Gaga was announced as a headliner on the Pyramid??

We're just going to have agree to disagree here I'm afraid.

In my opinion she isn't even in the same league as the other 3 mentioned, her sound is tacky and she is the flavour of the month at the minute for being bit out there.

Kylie's and Beyonce's target market is females but not solely teenagers, teenagers like them but they are not who their music is initially aimed at.

They don't release a record and think, this will do shit agreed, but they don't release a record and think well that's just made me a million dollars either. They write their songs because it's what they enjoy to do (or it was at first) and for the reason it brings enjoyment to other people. Where as I strongly believe Gaga will sit in a studio with her producer write an album within a matter of days, finish it and watch the money start to roll in because it is what the youth of today are lapping up.

At the end of the day mate, it goes dark, and I'm not actually that arsed. I don't like Lady Gaga and like I said before I think she's a fad, the novelty of her will wear off and I hope she'll be working in Dixons in 10 years time and not still making (IN MY OPINION, SHITE) music. I don't want her to play Glastonbury because that would end up forcing someone else off the line-up that I would obviously rather see.

Dixons? Really?

Obviously not mate.

Why are people making such a big deal out of this? I've already given the reasons why I don't think she should be booked to play Glastonbury. I don't think her music has any soul to it and I don't think her sound fits Glastonbury, especially a Pyramid Stage headline slot. Regardless of what anyone says her sound is completely different to Beyonce's it's a lot more tacky and a lot more commercialised and she also doesn't have a catalogue of hits / history that Beyonce has to please your average festival goer crowd for 2 hours. I'm not a massive Beyonce fan, I haven't got any of her or Destiny's Child's albums but I watched her this year and knew pretty much every song that she played, that wouldn't happen with Gaga. She also hasn't became "the biggest female act on the planet" for her musical ability either, regardless of how classically trained she is or not, I know a few people who are classically trained musicians and they're not the "the biggest act on the planet". She's became "the biggest female act on the planet" for being "wacky", like I said before she wore a cow to an awards ceremony, why? To get publicity to make her the, "next big thing".

Why are people are so bothered about her? Or is it just a case that people love to argue?

The End.

Personally I can't see Lady Gaga playing, unless she's over here playing another festival such as V or T. I know she's played before, but that was before became huge, and that's her only connection with the festival as far as I know. With Beyonce, obviously Jay-Z's performance had a massive influence, plus she's good friends with Chris Martin who obviously has a strong connection with the festival.

That said I saw Lady Gaga at V in the tent a few years ago and she's a bloody good performer. And by 2013 if she's still huge, then I think she'll of earned a headline slot, as well as being able to pull it. Btw I don't want her to play, would much prefer a a bit more original booking. Can't complain if Arcade Fire play though, hopefully as headliners :D

I would very much like Friendly Fires to sub. They'd be a great support & opening act to many of the names mentioned on here & the sets they've been playing (saw them at Glasto & Reading) at festivals have left out lots of very good tunes so would be good for set length.
