As far as heavier bands for Glasto I think they should go for Biffy Clyro (subbing pyramid or headlining other), Deftones (somehwere on Other) and Mastodon (pretty low on Other) and leave it at that... adds a bit more diversity to the lineup... three bands who are arguably at their peaks as well... no need for more heavier bands at Glasto... it's not what the fest is all about.

Sorry for all those funny comments a couple of pages back. Foruming on a four hour car journey during a chaotic Christmas time = a lack of concentration.

So:

Enter Shikari

Deftones

Mastodon

The Prodigy

Biffy Clyro

Placebo

Pulled Apart By Horses

Are the more likely heavy bands we can really expect.

Just to chuck in a couple of others Much less likely:

Bullet For My Valentine ?

Bring Me The Horizon?

SOAD?

BFMV and BMTH being British (British bands tend more to be booked by the booking team) up and and coming bands are the only factors I can think why they'd play + they were on BBC rock week, possibly another factor.

SOAD could be a possible QotSA type band for the Other headline. They're a popular band, with great live sing alongs but I could see Biffy Clyro take that role in being an alternative to a Mumford esque headliner. Biffy did play in 2011 though, too soon return?

Just a few of these bands scattered around the lineup would be nice,.among the Indie and pop which are the real relevant genres at Glasto.

Deftones and Mastodon are one thing - respected bands who are good at what they do, but i draw the line at anything like Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon or any other bands who's names are often abbreviated to stop their ridiculous names being printed. those bands won't.

Why?! I'd say BFMV and BMTH are respected in what they do amongst their fans.....plus are more likely to have more younger fans willing to go watch them than those two. Seems a very odd line.

If they would accept slightly smaller slots than say they would get at Reading/Download it could work really well! (Unless of course the eavi don't want any acts of that sort, then fair enough.)

Biffy to headline! :ninja: Mid Afternoon > Missed 2008 > JPT Headliner> Secret Slot > 3rd Pryamid > Fallow> Headline makes sense in my fanboy eyes :P

yes it was.

but come on, to come from witnessing close up the abilities of Cobain, to (presumably) take from that experience, and then start Foo Fighters?

i'm not suggesting they are comparable as songwriters, but Grohl didn't even try to do much beyond bog standard meat and potatoes rock for the kind of crowd Cobain wrote songs to ridicule.

    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
    • Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
