I like all the speculation, but honestly don't forget that if it's someone big that we all WANT it to be then if someone gives the game away it may not happen....

this!!

There's good reasons why it's secret so while we'd all like to personally know please don't condemn people for being willing to share some info with you even tho they won't share it all.

Not Artic Monkeys or Last Shadow Puppets.

Understand completely why you'd question or be fed up, I'd feel the same. But, as efcfanwirral (I'm red by the way..) rightly points out, if the game is given away it would jeopardize the performance actually happening.

Not Artics so any monkeys fans need not make the trek up to the park.

Why not just go to the park stage anyway, you'll find out for yourselves then and I would imagine the majority would be happy that they did.

Fair enough but you can give a non committal clue or two surely? Are they British? A band that might genuinely headline etc? Go on....

Arctic Monkeys /Pulp makes sense for me I think I am defo going go up saturday and see who is on, friday chase & status then race to u2 i am debating unless I think its Pulp.

I agree with those in this thread about the special guest slot it seems a bit pointless with these sorts of bands getting the slots (if true). I think its a great idea with its a smallish but well known band half way to releasing a new album, it must be great feeling for the fans but this...this is all a lil strange.

So many people seem to have developed a strange misconception about the monkeys. They are nothing like the “new oasis” some idiots make them out to be, they are not the slightest bit arrogant, and I really don’t see what there is to dislike about them. With each album they’ve released they’ve shown progression and improvement, they are all very competent musicians, especially the drummer, and Alex is one of the best lyricists around – the poet laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, has put him in the same league as Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan.

I think the main problem is that people instantly dismissed them after hearing songs such as Dancefloor, which Alex wrote when he was about 16. Their songs really aren’t that aggressive anymore, their new album is rather closer to 50’s/60’s style heartfelt love songs. They also don’t take things seriously, and people often fail to see their sense of humour; they might occasionally act arrogant or pretentious, but that’s only because they think it funny, and it’s self-mocking more than anything. This is most obvious to see if you watch the cornerstone video, I can’t believe how people fail to see the joke, I mean it’s directed by Richard Ayoade, it’s hardly going to be serious.

When Alex isn’t touring or recording, he spends his days sat at home, listening to records, cooking roast dinners, watching The wire or The Sopranos, and writing songs. He’s not your typical rockstar, all he cares about is writing good songs, and in little over 5 years, he’s released over 120.

Basically, you’d be a fool to write them off just because you thought they were a bit overrated or arrogant when they first turned up, because they’re really not, and If they end up playing the park, they’ll put on quite a show.

I personally think it's going to be magnetic man on Friday, they are all there except artwork and Katy B is also playing the Friday, ms dynamite on the Thursday etc.

Just think we are all getting carried away with it being 2 massive acts. 1 will be big as we have been told but I can't see them both being headliners.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
