I love how Muse get announced (possibly) and everyone expects a plethora of songs from the new album (which I like, it's proposterous, but I like it), but if U2 do it they'll ruin the festival!...basically, if Muse headline Sunday night and play the set I saw them play at the O2 in Dublin a few weeks ago, then Micheal will get more grief from the locals (I think Unintended was all they played off Showbiz)...Similarly, if Radiohead closed the festival with the set they played supporting In Rainbows he'd get grief too (I loved that set by the way, but my firends who just "like" Radiohead were less than impressed)...To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised to see Muse play before U2 (so Muse can play what they like), Radiohead to play on the Saturday (so they can play what they like) and Coldplay to close the festival on the Sunday since they have a broader appeal...

Still no official announcement on the Glasto website, so until there is I will keep my fingers crossed that Neil is wrong. I can't abide Muse.

Still, plenty to see and do elsewhere. And if there isn't, I can leave early and get a head start on getting off the site. :P

Personally think they will close the festival on the Sunday night as it sounds like this would be the 'young persons band' talked about. do Coldplay and Radiohead have the 'youth appeal' I'm thinking they are more 25-35 year old appeal. I've been listening to Resistance and to be honest it's a grower and gets better the more you hear it. Sure they would put on a blinding show to close out the festival.

I'm not a huge U2 fan and like most on here prefer their older stuff but again I'm sure it will be one of the highlights of the festival. whether you care for these 2 bands or not, the atmosphere should be pretty special when they play;)

Now if they could just get around to announcing the Stones.....

a "newbie" to this forum yes. but not to festival forums...

are they? i thought they were wrong about reading last year.. anyway it would be cool to see the proof behind this rumour :P

Nope, efests was the one place that got Reading 100% right for this year, and months before the announcement too. :P

Did efests provide the bottles of piss too? Theres a market there for that. Efests branded bottles of piss.

I'm not sure what to think of this to be honest, I used to love Muse but as I've grown up they have gradually become a more self indulgent stadium rock version of themselves and the music has suffered severely (apart from Knights of Cydonia and Exogenesis) it's all a tad dull. I know they are fantastic live and even better musicians in their own right, so no doubt they will put on fantastic show but at the end of the day you can't polish a turd and their new music is one giant turd.

If they promised me a set list comprised of Hullabaloo, Origin of Symmetry, Absolution B-sides and Showbiz in that order I'd be up front, but it's not going to happen their set will be full of their decadent pop excuse for prog without the charm of MGMT

I'd guess that Muse are the Sunday headliner, and that Coldplay or Radiohead are the Saturday headliner.

I suspect that Coldplay will be on the bill somewhere even if they don't headline, given Chris Martin's attachment for it - it's not like playing before (say) U2 would be seen as tarnishing them as being on a slide downwards.

Something I was hoping against, but I'll accept it :P

I think Muse try and make an epic sound, but they're only 3 people! If you want an epic sound, you need a big band. No amount of synths, pyrotechnics and flashy lights can cover that up. It's too many gimmicks and showing off, and not enough rock n roll. And then there's Bellamy's voice...

Oh, and theremins suck!

But always the Other Stage :P

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
