I was wondering about that one DomDom. Most of the Netflix original stuff seems to be pretty decent. Guessing they're using their knowledge of viewing habits to develop them?

Well this one was actually developed by NBC and sold off, but I'd imagine that aye, that plays a big part, and that's why they took it.

Surprised they never tried to get Community as well.

Just posted this in the films thread as well, but given I watch TV series, it's relevant here. Pondering getting one of netflix/amazon instant. Anyone got any thoughts as to how they compare?

Yeah I'd say netflix, its pretty polished, plus the apps for other devices are pretty decent. Also, if you look into some of the services available to "region free" your netflix, theres thousands of extra series and movies etc on the american one. I use "adfreetime" which takes a little bit of faffing around to setup, but once done, you can switch regions via a smartphone app. It costs about £1.11 a month.

Sorry if anyone thought I spoilt anything. I don't/didn't think I was spoiling anything for anyone.

Anyway, by episode 6 you'll realise the entire thing has been spoilt by being a boring let-down of a season.

It's pretty safe to click that one too IMHO.

Agree with you.

Its sort of turned into a ploddy straight up political drama hasn't it?

Yep. That's what I mean when I said

It's the West Wing Season 8. The writers have gotten

preachy. Frank Underwood has been pushing his America Works program not for mendacious political advantage but because he believes in the value of it. That's not a Frank Underwood position, that's the values of the writers being broadcast. Same with Claire and the gay-of-Russia protest. She basically gave up the UN political role she has spent her entire life working towards for one moment of placard protester politics. Again, that's not Claire doing that, that's the writers getting preachy.

It's not even that I disagree with the writers on their stances. But they should have had those position constructed by other people in the show and have the Underwoods crush them for political expediency. As it is they're using the Underwoods for sock-puppet sermons.

And whatever the fuck that is it ain't the House of Cards I spent the previous two years watching.

you are welcome, glad to be of help!

dont count out the other available regions, they have less stringent copyright laws and licensing laws - therefore get some of the stuff that other regions dont get. for example - canada has a huge selection of UFC events on their netflix - afaik the only region to do so. a little digging may find some gems hidden around the world.

oooh, and special mention goes to the USA's selection of documentaries - must be 20X the amount that UK netflix has.

Was just listening to a podcast where they were talking about "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst" an HBO original series, sounds like a docu-drama.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4299972/?ref_=ttep_ep_tt

It sounds fascinating, but they were veering into spoiler territory on the podcast (Joe Rogans) so I stopped listening - but my interest has definitely been piqued.

Got a hold of the "unofficial" Underbelly "Fat Tony & Co", it's basically Underbelly Season 1 but from the POV of Tony rather than Carl Williams. Most of the cast of UB returned to their characters, which is pretty great.

Anyway, two episodes in and loving it. It's great. If you like Underbelly.

The worst part is they've had to change the title music. It's okay, but I miss "it's a jungle out there" lyric.

I've started watching Agent Carter and I'm really enjoying it so far especially the authenticy of it of the show. I was put off by how dull Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is but thankfully this is very different.

Think it has to be faster paced/more straight to the point with only being 8 episodes and better for it!

Not watched finalie yet...as I am awaiting to be paid before I renew my vpn sub.

I also find the retro feel (particually how everyone speaks) helps set it apart from everything else, it's probably one of the few girl power shows (Xena, Buffy, Alias etc) that actually has sexism be apart of the storyline and helps the plot.

I watched the last episode last night and I'm pleased with it, hopefully it will get a 2nd season.

Fortitude is worrying me btw. I'm thinking that we're gonna end up getting a ludicrous twist and it's going to put me off watching it. Certainly FEELS like something stupid is coming.

Just caught up with this !

Twinkie defence anyone?

Got round to catching up with the Agent Carter finalie and Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.

Agent Carter, great ending and glad they didn't go for the "Everything is fine now, there is no more sexism!" ending. I really hope it gets 2nd series!

Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D, first 3 after the break, the usual up and down it has always been. Some great moments and scenes but proper super villains were cool.

AoS

I really hope thsi "real SHIELD" stuff isn't just a rehash of the Hydra storyline.

Just loving the new Paul Whitehouse vehicle Nurse. It's kind of similar to his old series Help, which came to an unfortunate end.

I've also loved the last two episodes of The Flash.

I've been working hard and am now TV binging.

Really enjoyed the first of the Ed & Dara Big Adventure series from the other night. Some good banter and a chance to see a bit of Mexico.

Also been watching Murder In The First, the Stephen Botchco drama (anyone remember Murder One from way back) with Draco in it. Pretty good stuff.

Other highlights - Flash, Gotham, Blacklist, Ross Noble Freewheeling, Good Wife, Suits (started to pick up after a dodgy couple of seasons), CSI, Crimy Minds, ...

Started watching the Good Wife a few weeks back with the Mrs for the first time. We have been flying through them and its been surprisingly very entertaining. However we are now half way through season 3 and some of the writing has gone downhill and plot development has suffered. Watching on now in the hope it picks back up

I think the first few series follow a bit of a formulaic approach, but there's some great plot developments to come. And it gets some great guest stars - loving Michael J Fox in it and once you get up to date, there's Niles from Frasier to look forward to - mind Alan Cumming is very good in it.

Bunique, Cary's not my bag, however there's definitely something about Kalinda! mmm

    • I would be very surprised as well if they are are European Festivals and Werchter isn't one of them. They have done Roskilde before but with big gaps   They have done NOS once and they have done Mad Cool once while playing 3 times at Werchter during the period Mad Cool has ran.
    • Whole thing seems a bit sus to me.
    • wtf. Those Moroccons in Cueta can't just go into EU anyway, they would need to go through further checks before Schengen.
