England's dreadful start to the World Cup could yet get worse, says Scotland assistant coach Paul Collingwood.

England have suffered heavy back-to-back defeats by Australia and New Zealand to leave them bottom of Pool A.

They face Scotland in Christchurch on Monday and Collingwood says Scotland pose them a significant threat.

"There's real confidence and belief we can get a win," he said. "The guys are getting closer and closer against international opposition."

I fear the worst old pal. Do enjoy the rounders and enjoying a half shandy while I watch :-).Taken in the odd ashes match over the years. Last time was a great weekend in Manchester.

Let me dream for a few overs, at least. With a bit of luck our failure will be heroic.

Only Moeen, Morgan and Finn come out of that game with much credibility. Could argue Butler was right to attack, but didn't exactly shine.

Still baffled by dropping Taylor down the order. He was shining at 3.

As you say though, lacklustre display against a very weak side.

  • 1 month later...

So Benaud retires to join Bailey, Johnners, CMJ, Greig et al. What a man.

McLaren, Lowe, O'Sullevan, Bromley, Maskell...and now dear Richie. Commentary boxes aren't what they used to be.

I'm old enough to add John Arlott to that list.

Benaud was a wonderful commentator.

His rules should be compulsory reading for all commentators...

Never ask for a statement.

Remember the value of a pause.

There are no teams in the world called 'we' or 'they'.

Avoid cliches and banalities, such as 'he's hit that to the boundary', 'he won't want to get out now', 'of course', 'as you can see on the screen'.

The Titanic was a tragedy, the Ethiopian drought a disaster, and neither bears any relation to a dropped catch.

Put your brain into gear before opening your mouth.

Concentrate fiercely at all times.

Above all, don't take yourself too seriously, and have fun.

This is my first post in this thread and will possibly be my last, as I have no interest in Cricket whatsoever. However, I do happen to follow Piers Morgan on twitter and he seems very passionate about the England cricket team and there's one thing he repeats over and over again, his opinions are usually quite controversial (in general, even though I think he talks a lot of sense), so just wanted to see what people in here thought about it.

To be honest, it's probably already been spoke about in here a million times over, but I'm not trapesing back through 100 pages! haha

So, who thinks England should BringBackKP?
