You do you eh?

I think tonight's 50/50 anyway. Both sides have players capable of seizing the moment and both have had phases in the knockout rounds where they've been second best. Depends which one is better able to take advantage of the other's passive moments.

Feels like a very good assessment. Neither side has been convincing - hardly surprising as this is far from a vintage England or Argentine side.

I think I fancy England more if the game ends at 90 or 120 mins, but if it goes to pens I have to think Argentina have a big advantage there, mainly because of Emi Martinez.

Surely there will be a lot of chances. Argentina have scored a lot of goals (the most?) and England's defence looks porous, despite their brilliant showing against Mexico.

I also think Argentina's defense looks ropey! They've conceded in every knockout game.

Wouldnt mind some kind of crazy end to end 3-3 then, as a neutral 👍 dont especially mind who goes through, would be happy for England cos of my pals etc, but then equally some kind of VAR penalty/red card robbery in favour of Argentina could be very entertaining too. I just want LOL ammunition!

Edit: basically i'd like as much entertainment as that 1998 2-2 draw, that was epic and had everything

I ended up in casualty getting my nose reset after that match

It all kicked off in the pub I was in and I got caught in the crossfire.

Can't think of an England goal I've enjoyed more than the Owen one though I wouldn't want a David Beckham incident in the age of social media, I was very happy England beat Mexico after the red card.

The 2005 friendly wasn't bad either and I'd much prefer that result.

This is exactly what I want, ideally Pickford sent off, or Kane. Months of moaning and complaining 😃

And there you go, more than enough reason to want England to lose

I mean, if Cape Verde can score twice against them, why not England?

Hell, I've only seen the highlights of the Switzerland match at the weekend but between halftime and the Embolo red, Switzerland could and perhaps should have come from behind to take the lead.

In retrospect, anyone else think Beckham was harshly treated? I rewatched highlights of that game earlier this week thought it was a pretty harsh red that probably wasn't worth a year or so of him being treated like Satan 2.0.

Tbf the energy level question is one of the reasons why I feel whoever wins tonight is going to New York as underdogs in the final. Both England and Argentina have had chaotic knockout games, phases in those games where they've been second best, key players looking knackered, played more extra time than Spain and are playing the day after Spain. And that's before the fact tonight's contest is going to be a very intense match by itself.

I would also add that Spain have played less minutes and expended less energy against what will have been significantly more difficult opposition than their opponent. To me they have been in control in every game, even with the games needing late goals there was no panic.

Yeah absolutely. I think England have more chance against Spain than Argentina in the final,

I would be interested who Spain would rather play, they probably don’t care and just hope both sides knock lumps out of each other.

Bloody foreigner always diving for a penalty or playacting.

Our honest lions led by Harry Kane would never do such a thing!

Absolutely spot on

Good point indeed. It's not as impressive to watch as Spain were 2 years ago but it is unquestionably effective and as you say, they had two very tough encounters in Portugal and Belgium along the way.

    • Yes, she can just do stadiums and she's probably one step behind when you could have anyway. How Reading works this year though both top two are headlining with Chase probably more a closer due to darkness after Florence. I don't see Wolf Alice in the part of a top 6. If they go back to pure headliner and subs then yes.

    • Wolf Alice are supporting O-Rod in America soon, right? So yeah, I think as a 1/2 that would work. But equally was there any talk of her doing more touring next year beyond her 10 nights at the O2 or whatever it is?   Certainly, I think WA might take a year off themselves in 2027.
