Geese are rumoured to be the EOTR secret headliner.

Shut up, SweepingTheNation. I'm in the believing all rumours phase at the moment and your factually correct dispelling of delicious possibilities is unwelcome and frankly a bit rude. I'm taking that entire list as pretty much confirmed.

In other news, Tangerine fields is open for business, albeit giving me an error message at checkout.

The new re-sale system this year is abysmal. I know more tickets will become available nearer the event, but for being able to get a ticket for a partner or a friend that wants to join you seems almost impossible with 5,000+ people on a waiting list.

Last year I snapped up a ticket on Twickets. And the next day snapped up another for my partner. The year before when they used Fanticks me and 3 friends managed to get tickets fairly easy in the run-up a few weeks before.

I'm sorry, but an endless waitlist is beyond. Just filled with dread and genuinely the worst option they could have ever gone with.

Seems the only way is to know someone you're in direct contact selling one to you.

Yeah, the system doesn't seem ideal. The demand for the festival does seem to have gone through the roof in the last couple of years though, no? For my first visit 2 years ago, I booked everything, flight, busses, tent etc without a ticket because everyone said I'd pick one up no bother in the run up. And everyone was correct. Last year, it seemed MUCH tighter. And this year is shaping up to be worse again. Loads of regulars seemed to miss out on initial release. Waiting list looks mental. What gives? What's changed?

I've been going to GM for a number of years now, and first noticed a ramp up in popularity during 2021. It appeared that a lot of 'first-timers' were attending who would have usually gone to Glastonbury (it was still on hiatus due to covid) and they seemed to have a great time.
Since then the popularity of the festival and the speed of sell-outs has increased. I suspect with no Glastonbury this year that the amount of people who only usually go that one festival has led to increase sales elsewhere, with GM being the first port of call for many.
Hand in hand with this there has been a definate increase in a younger audience attending, as they realise it isn't just folk or middle aged bands who play. For example, the late night Far Out tent is particularly raucous these days 🙂

Would love to see Wilco at GM.

Matt Berninger (solo) as a potential headliner or do we think he's still too big?

Would also love to see Nation of Language, Manchester Orchestra, World News on the lineup.

Matt Berninger didn’t even headline End of the Road the other year, so definitely not too big!

He was on the second stage at End Of The Road last year. But I doubt he's touring Europe for this album again.

EDIT: hold on, yes he is! But the last date is July 15th, so he won't be sticking around until/returning for mid-August.

Can see Band of Horses potentially showing up. They’ve just been added to Oya.

Oh yeah! I'd love that. Loads of exciting possibilities out there. I'm dangerously optimistic. Brace yourselves for the crash.

Based on who’s touring Europe in August that is the right size, I’d love our headliners to be Amyl, Wilco and Geese (unlikely I know)

do we think there would be any chance for a Cameron Winter solo set (assuming Geese are doing EOTR) outside of where he’s also playing with Geese?

Geese really do look nailed on for EOTR.

Yeah it’s a bugger, missed out on tickets for their March tour. At All Points East when they’re at Reading and I can’t attend EOTR as I’m a teacher. Means I’ll be missing them this year.

While we still shouldn't expect the line-up until the end of the month it looks like we might get a few more pointers this week - Pukkelpop and Lowlands on the same weekend are making first announcements, We Out Here their second, Sziget the week before are also teasing their second, and End Of The Road's big drop will cross some names off.

Literally speculated with my wife earlier that James Blake could be the electronic headliner and they’ve just confirmed he’s NOT playing.
