Saturdays have always sucked. Artists are more expensive and there's a huge competition for them.

That's a poor excuse for a festival that's trying to coax those who would have normally attended Glastonbury.

In an attempt to get into him, I've been listening to Skrillex's songs on Spotify and watching live vids on YouTube, and it's just made me dislike him more than I did when he was announced 🤣 🤣

I can't even call who is going to be in the tent when he's on as an alternative. They've clearly downgraded to just six acts per day in Revolut, so I guess it's going to be Charlotte Cardin or Soulwax.

There are loads of stages,  don’t think you are forced to watch the headliner.  I won’t be watching skrillex,  could be someone on the buzz,  Budapest park,  circus,  drag show on the mirror,

Yeah, in fairness, a show in Magic Mirror would be worth a watch that night if was as good as the 2025 show.

I'd say you are seeing things from the wrong perspective.

This year's goal is to survive to see another day, not to coax audience from Glasto.

I think they did a decent job, too. I'm skeptical about it being enough, though.

Would be amazed if it was anyone other that Charlotte Cardin up against Skrillex. She's the only one with any kind of following who would draw people away from the main stage area.

Plus, she's playing some pretty big festivals (and headlining one in France I believe), so she's likely to bring more of a 'show'.

There is also a possibility that no one will be playing in the tent...

Which is one of the biggest festivals on the planet, from a country with a GDP that's 16 times larger than Hungary's. Glasto costs twice as much as Sziget if you divide the price by the amount of days.

FFS, our flight lands at 6pm on 10 August. Would have loved to see Faithless and Morcheeba - both proper blasts from the past. Wish they'd given us a bit of warning about this.

I believe even They didn' know lol .. kind of a late idea I guess

According to the articles there will be a -1 day aswell. Artists will be revealed later

How does this work?

moving in is from the 10th, right? That means the 9th is having artists as well?

Why wouldn’t they make moving in passes starting the 9th?

Can I be sour and say this is one of the most f**ked up things they ever did?

1. it devalues the regular ticket, as it forces you to buy an add-on

2. after Hormuz, people fleed to purchase flight tickets in advance, so for many the thing is set in stone

3. they never even opened to the chance to do something like this.

The closest example I have in mind for how Sziget should have tackled this situation is La Ciutat at Primavera Sound:

1. It's free/included in the ticket price - you pay a figurative amount to reserve your spot and that's given back if you show up or given to a volountary organization

2. You say from the get go that there will be some additional elements to the experience (take the DJ cruise, for example)

3. YOU SAY FROM THE GET GO THAT THERE WILL BE SOME ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS TO THE EXPERIENCE

Here’s the translation:

Károly Gerendai said at the Sziget Festival’s Wednesday press conference that this week they will formalize the new ownership structure behind the festival in a contract. According to the festival’s founder, management will hold a 70% stake, while the festival’s major subcontractors and professional partners will collectively own 30%. These partners will each have stakes of 1–5% within this arrangement.

Gerendai added that the organizing team has also been freed from having to meet the expectations of a foreign owner, and can now “focus again on what makes Sziget lovable.” Chief organizer Tamás Kádár hopes that ticket sales this year will surpass last year’s figures, and that the festival will also receive tourism support from the new government.

There will also be concerts on the “Day 0,” evoking earlier editions of Sziget through the performers. On that day, Morcheeba and Faithless will perform, followed by a larger afterparty reminiscent of classic dance music festivals at the Revolut Stage, featuring artists including György Korda and others. According to the organizers, there will also be a “Day -1,” though its program will be announced later.

According to Kádár, the renovation of the K Bridge (K-híd) could begin after this year’s Sziget, and they plan to complete the work by the 2027 festival. A new feature in catering is that all drinks will be 10% cheaper before 6 p.m.

Sziget has already announced this year’s headliners, including performances by Skepta, Skrillex, Bring Me The Horizon, Zara Larsson, and Florence + The Machine. It was previously revealed that Budapest Park, which has also appeared as an investor behind the festival, will have its own stage featuring exclusively Hungarian bands. One of the electronic music stages will also be revamped: the venue called “Der Klub” will be organized in collaboration with Turbina and Arzenál.

This year’s Sziget is being held after prolonged uncertainty. It first emerged that the foreign owner, Luxembourg-based Superstruct Entertainment—acquired in 2023 by the American private equity firm KKR—had decided not to take further risks in Hungary. It was then revealed that founder Károly Gerendai intended to take over the festival, but needed the support of the city, as the festival sought a new, more favorable land-use agreement. This proposal failed to pass several times in the city assembly. At the end of October, the Budapest General Assembly once again did not approve the proposal to help ensure the survival of the struggling Sziget Festival, due to abstentions by Fidesz and Tisza representatives. After that decision, many suggested there might be no festival next year, but the following day brought a turnaround: Péter Magyar posted a selfie with Gerendai announcing that they would meet at Sziget next year. According to Gerendai, they managed to reach a compromise with Magyar, with both sides making concessions, allowing the festival to go ahead this year.

As someone who always goes a day before and finds moving-in ticket expensive as there was never no entertainment (im camping at the festival), this is great news. I think people here panicking are overreacting. It's just a stage with a few bands, that's it, and they're all mediocre.  It's really nothing special. Most festivals have campsite entertainment and this is basically pre-festival campsite entertainment. There's not going to be another festival a day before for another ticket, get real. Don't worry.

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
