Linkin Park is not coming to Europe just to play Sziget

Linkin park will be already in Europe, however official tour ends in 30th june in zurich, its also not unusual that they have a month break during tour, and maybe they will extend the european leg with some extra festival spots.

Some more relative arguments

*Linkin park was mentioned one of the radio interviews with the CEO

*The tour skipped Budapest (and complete East-South Europe/balcan countries

*In Hungary they have a huge multigen. fan base

*Novelty of the band (new vocalist) and unique spot would improve sziget prestige

*LP had an appearance in Volt festival (organized by sziget team) in 2017, the concert was a great success for the festival, never played in sziget though

*if Gerendai wants to bring back some old sziget vibe from golden era, LP would be a perfect choose along with Prodigy

The old Sziget vibe was more to do with the additional activities and week passes.  It was mostly festival people who knew how to party and integrate and interact with others.  I think remove the pop headliners that attract day ticket people who Moan and camp in front of the main stage.  They add zero vibe.   Instead replace with festival big hitters.  Prodigy, foo fighters, chemical brothers.  I’m not against new headliners chapel roan put on a great show last year as did anyma.  But chapel did attract a load of insular day ticket holders who watched her and left straight afterwards.

the additional activities were all the free crazy stuff,  Hungarian dancing, karaoke, ruin bar quarter,  workshops everywhere, cheap shisha bars,  free massage,  disability park,  lots of roaming bands, light displays,  etc.   free challenges, less corporate sponsors doing photo points.  Brands need to offer more,  a cool bar or activity,  the brand ishould be secondary to the activity the are offering.  Bring back the opera, world music, hippie vibe instead of insta vibe.

There are no festivals they could play in August. Most of the relevant markets (Germany, Belgium or UK) is already covered so no Pukkelpop, Frequency, Reading and Leeds…

When talked about the business plans and risks, he said the main focus is to improve overall sziget experience but it doesnt mean they should cut the budget for the performers, they intend to dictate trends (as one of the biggest european festivals) rather than follow international trends.

Amyl probably ruled out…

Maybe not! They said they still had a couple unannounced gigs left in this timeframe, so the 11th could work. Also, they said  in Dublin they would play with Mannequin Pussy - so they are also active and maybe could make up for the show they missed last year. Hoping for both, but would be happy with one of those.

Scratch that just checked Mannequin Pussy and they are still in the States in August, so no.

20h drive from Budapest to Oslo…but if they are flying, then it’s not a problem.

I've been telling people on Reddit that  there is no way in this univere, that this sh*t list is real, as fake as it can be.

Hope Sombr is just a coincidence 😂

Yes I saw it this is what I said there

Sombr is not that bad but not the best tho if he would be on like revolut stage or maybe mainstage but not headlining

And the others... Hell nahh like what are these headliners I thought they want to revive sziget not dump it even more, Gerendai is back so what about at least one rock or metal act ? Anyways if not there are still much better pop-rap-indie name options for them to choose what will be in europe

Looks like we are really getting sombr because I said this before the leak

Yeah I saw this as well. Sombr has already been announced for wow during sziget so it's not a surprise if he is at sziget. Olivia Dean is in the US during sziget so definitely out. The others haven't really been announced to festivals or no tour dates for next year at all as far as I know (edit: I mean tour and festival dates in Europe), so I'm pretty sure this is fake. The same user said before that Katy Perry will be at sziget this year (2025). So it's not really a trustworthy source.

Seems like they just tried to put a list together with names that have a lot of buzz to farm some engagement.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
