No:

a) they're not playing festivals

b) Sziget can't afford them

c) it doesn't really fit their schedule (The Weeknd's setup will be moving from Stockholm to London and Adriana's from the US to London during Sziget, Budapest is quite far from these routes).

Weeknd was the first rumour in reddit, and coming up as a HL year by year,  still think it might be tightly fit with their schedule: they have shows in 8-10 aug in stockholm and than 14 aug in london, so maybe 12 aug could work for sziget, but yes, maybe they re just too expensive anyway, same as Ariana (however she did a few festivals before).

what about Olivia Rodrigo? She is on the wishmachine list, working on her new album, and it is expected to release soon, she is very festival friendly, maybe a promo tour spot in sziget?

Bittersweet festival (Poznan) just recently announced

Twenty One Pilots (14 aug)
Gorillaz (13 aug)

I hope it wont clash with sziget 😞

Gorillaz are doing also Way Out West festival in Sweden (13-15 aug, I assume 15th), so if Sziget booked them, it's gonna be on 11th (I think there has to be at least 1 day break between festivals)

The xx:

10 aug - san francisco

14 aug - charleville, france

Jamie XX's tour dates from this year. The XX are only announced for Way Out West and Syd For Solen in August.

I don't expect Sziget to share much with Nordic festivals. They usually share most of the acts with each other and with Sziget being shorter and almost on the same dates, there will be only a few that will play on the first two days of Sziget.

I can't imagine Weeknd playing festivals, but you never know I guess.

I think we are fishing in a pool of: Twenty One Pilots, Lorde, Gorillaz, The xx, Tyler The Creator, Moby, The Cure, Nick Cave along with rumoured acts yet to announce dates like Sabrina, Olivia, Dua Lipa.

Other possibles as subs etc include Zara Larsson, Pulp, Sombr etc.

Could end up being a decent year with no massive artists soaking up wads of budget.

That would be sad, still hoping for a surprise act (linkin park, olivia)

I think Gerendai also said somewhere that focusing on the headliners was not the right business model for the festival, so I'm not expecting huge names.

Another name not mentioned there that I think is possible is Florence and the machine. No August dates announced yet, but I can imagine her wanting to do the festivals she had to cancel last time (pukkelpop, lowlands, rock en seine) and she is also kind of a sziget regular.

Florence definitely feels like the right fit.

based on tour dates, Sombr could definitely be booked.

i don’t expect the festival to come out with any gigantic names like Sabrina Carpenter or Ariana Grande , or even the Wkend, especially with regards to the financial situation.

On the other, sziget cant afford that next edition will be not just short but weak as well

Guys listen I have a crazy theory like actually hear me out, read it all before saying something

I know that Billie... Is very expensive BUT

She is ending her hmhas tour today and sziget is probably still trying to book some names now and most of the festivals already have booked all names even released and she said that she will be working on a new album soon and if we look few years back when she was on her tour happier than ever in 2022 she skipled hungary same like now and then she started working on new album in 2023 (the hmhas) what was released only in 2024 but in 2023 she was doing festivals all over the europe so its almost the same pattern don't you think ? 2025 tour and now album and festivals in 2026, When she was on sziget the last time she said that she will definitely return back so maybe she even wouldn't ask for that much money and glastonbury isn't even happening the next year where she would try to go mainly so sziget is like top 3 or top 2 for her if she would be doing festivals what is kinda possible ( I give it at all like 25-30%) a lot of reading, sorry about that but I want to hear some interesting opinions

I doubt it. Too expensive for this edition.

Ik but thats why I mentioned that she really loved sziget, she skipped hungary same like she did before then she came to sziget, I can't believe she actually wouldn't at least appear in hungary with hmhas and this could be the last chance so thats wh maybe she wouldn't even ask for that much money

everyone here think it will be a "cheap" edition...

Guys,

1) the price is the same, and its 5 days instead of 6, so less acts to book.

2) it is not with a bad line up that Sziget will make people come back. On the contrary, I believe the next 2 editions are very important .

You're right its only 5 day festival now instead of 6 so they could spend some of the money from that ,,6 day" to make the lineup a little better for the other days

Yep I agree, they have to get it right. Punters won't put up with a Sziget light version.

They also have a chance to have a more varied set of headliners, a lot of festivals are quite samey next summer. Hoping to see something a bit fresh.

Couple of questions, for those who know more about festivals behind the scenes than me.

Has Sziget still got the same booking team? Or is that all new with the new/old ownership.

One aspect I am curious about. Before the ownership got changed, there was already talk about it being 5 days. Anyone know why they kept it at 5 days?

The whole team is the same but the booking strategy will be different. Gerendai said in a Hungarian podcast recently the only thing he asked the booking team to try focus different generations of the festivalgoers not only Gen Z. But he also thinks the good line-up is not enough so they want to show again why Sziget is different from the other festivals in general. Here can you find a short summary: https://24.hu/fn/gazdasag/2025/11/19/podcast-della-sziget-fesztival-kulfoldiek-tulajdonosvaltas-gerendai-karoly/

Linkin Park is not coming to Europe just to play Sziget

I agree, however, they would be a booking which isn't solely focused on Gen Z. They have old fans who are now probably in their 30s or 40s, and newly acquired fans. I'm not a massive fan, but they would be a good booking.

A perfect act to hit that multi-age demographic would be The Killers, but they haven't been around for a while.

Linkin park will be already in Europe, however official tour ends in 30th june in zurich, its also not unusual that they have a month break during tour, and maybe they will extend the european leg with some extra festival spots.

Some more relative arguments

*Linkin park was mentioned one of the radio interviews with the CEO

*The tour skipped Budapest (and complete East-South Europe/balcan countries

*In Hungary they have a huge multigen. fan base

*Novelty of the band (new vocalist) and unique spot would improve sziget prestige

*LP had an appearance in Volt festival (organized by sziget team) in 2017, the concert was a great success for the festival, never played in sziget though

    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
