BBC iPlayer - audio recording lacking audience noise?

Hey all,

 

I've mentioned on another thread, but usually love watching everything back on iPlayer a few weeks after festival over.

 

Have watched Chic, Scissor Sisters and a bit of Parcels so far... Is anyone else finding the audio completely shite? I am getting none of the crowd atmosphere whatsover, which is not usually the case at all.

 

Anyone else experiencing this - any solutions..?

You’re not suggesting that the reason the crowd noise is so quiet to try and disguise Free Palestine chants are you?  Auntie Beeb wouldn’t do that sort of thing.

Yep.  Have mentioned this a couple of times.  Something has gone really wrong this year.  Its sounds almost as dead as Coachella.

One thing I thought when watching recordings is that the Pyramid was the weakest sounding of the stages when I watched bits from there.

 

It usually at the bottom end of sound quality for that one?

Not too familiar with The Other Stage, but WH beats it consistently

It's on BBC Sounds and the audio generally seems to be much better than on iPlayer

The iPlayer sound through my soundbar has been great. Band and crowd for each set has sounded loud and clear.

The audio is there - apparently they have to review frame by frame..... before they can let us watch it.

Pretty sure this is an issue with people playing the sets back through 2.0 speaker systems, because they've been sounding great to me in Dolby Surround / Neural X.

I have a Dolby Atmos system and it's sounded utterly dead during most sets 

 

First one I replayed was Common People, for the crowd noise, and there wasn't any!

Thought the same this morning whilst watching the Turnstile set on the treadmill. Crowd sounds dead on the video, but I was there and know it was anything but.
