Yep. Thatโ€™s enough for me to return next year for my 2nd RW.

ย

Anyone want (heavily discounted) Primavera tickets?

ย

Turned out to be lineup of the year IMO and for my tastes.

ย

Kingfishr ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Thought I would do a mini-review of sorts. Out of the names added today I'd see nearly all of them.

ย

- Thursday adding Tom Smith (who I saw in a church in Ryton back in September and his solo arrangements of Editors songs are amazing) and Yard Act just adds to an already stacked day.

ย

- Friday needed the most work for me but Franz are one of my all time favourites, Kingfishr are my go-to at the min and factor in Wolf Alice, Social Distortion and Twigs and we're eating well.

- Saturday is eclectic but buzzing with CMAT back, other names decent

- Sunday getting Rise Against, David Byrne and Mogwai and we're looking at 4 great days (for me)

ย

Given that I would have watched 24 of the previously announced acts I'm going to struggle to find better elsewhere for me. Going to wait and see what the end of Rock for People's advent calendar does but its strongly looking like a RW/Mad Cool double bill for me next year.

Was only looking this morning at his UK tour dates, can't make the Birmingham and Manchester gigs. So delighted he has been announced.ย

Still not for me (can't believe I'm playing the NA role!), but one thing that they've done really well this year is keep the repeats to a minimum, which is great for the committed regulars. Even those that are on repeat are well justified, either due to new material or an increased profile since they last played.

Imagine he will have to be in Klub C so he doesn't get too lost as it's a very soft sound on the solo record, but the acoustic guitar/ukelele version of Papillion he did with his mate on the small venues tour gave me goosebumps. Still think he's the most underrated front-man of a generation.ย

Lineup is superb. Good chance Iโ€™ll attend in the summer for the first time. Whatโ€™s the festival like after the main acts have finished? Going off last yearโ€™s clash finder it looks as though the stages finish at around 1AM. Are there still bars open / DJs etc until the early hours?

To be honest, thatโ€™s something that is noticeably absent at RW.

ย

Thereโ€™s stuff going on at the Hive until late/early, but not in the main arena - unless anyone knows different.

Is Thursday stacked?, two repeats straight from 2023 with one bump up for no known reason? Getting Mumfords back after only 3 years personally isn't a yes we got them moment, rather a we could have chose differently than repeat but hey.

ย

From that I'd take Social Distortion and Rise Against. Sunday run of The Cure, Moby, APC who aren't for me and Rise Against is one of the best top 4 runs in recent times. Not in great needs to see Rise Against so soon though but they are a good addition either way.

ย

That old Vampire Weekend information thoroughly dead in the water and always was.

ย

It does mean David Byrne will be clashing with Moby and maybe slightly The Cure.

ย

@Kempletonย I'll tag you in this for advice. Issue being what is there for 3 nights when the closing headliners are for you and no alternate as they close or not for you?, kinda similar to Download with the question of what do you do to appose a main stage absent band point.

Ah yeah will more than likely be camping @ the Hive so thatโ€™s fine. Not expecting Glastonbury but so long as thereโ€™s a few bars open reasonably late thatโ€™ll be coolย

We still have the lineup for The Slope to come too.

ย

This is going to be a very busy weekend.

ย

My dilemma now is should I investigate the acts Iโ€™m not already familiar with? Or am I just going to cause myself even more trouble with potential clashes?

Looks the same as I read. And also reads extremely well.

ย

Very strong Werchter.

Tom Smith headlining Klub C would be a clash with Mumford and Sons right?ย

ย

If placement on the website is indicative of placements, both All Them Witches and Blood Incantation are above - so either early Barn or late Klub C. No idea of the size of those acts in Belgium, but they'd make for a heavier alternative to Mumford and Sons if they were headlining Klub C?

I am going to Mad Cool this year but Werchter has a bloody good line up this year.ย

ย

Yard Act,ย Wolf Alice, Franz Ferdinand and David Byrne are excellent additions in my book.ย

It's in the top 3 for sure, top lines bar Sunday sacrificed for a better undercard. I still think you've got a better overall lineup in Mad Cool for you.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.ย
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun ย  Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers ย  Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, Lโ€™Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys ย  *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them. ย  ย
