2027 Headliners

If I had to put money on now, the one I'd be most confident in is Fred. He was earmarked for this year by all accounts but it seems he's been doing a lot of writing. It would be pretty big/something different for someone like that to headline the Pyramid.

Chapell potentially.

The third in that instance I suspect would be a band. If the Oasis train is still rolling, the hype is still there and they're willing to lower their demands - you'd think Glastonbury will make an offer.

Fontaines are likely headliners next time round, in my opinion, but it's largely gonna be dependent on how they approach the next record, timing wise.

They tour pretty relentlessly and have knocked out albums quickly. You'd think they'd want to capitalise on their current popularity but easier said than done to follow up romance. If they rejected a sub slot this year as I think you said then it seems like they want to headline in the future. I think it would be great. Maybe they'll take 2026 off the festival circuit then be back for 2027.

I was going to say maybe Fred, Fontaines, Oasis but no way there isn't at least one female headliner (or at least trying for that).

Chappell of course could be in the frame. Gaga and Rihanna's names always crop up. And of course Taylor.

I'd kill for any version of Oasis, Taylor, Chappell, Fontaines but the first 2 seems too strong.

I don't know anything on Fred, at the moment, but if he puts out a big record between now and '27 and goes down the stadium route in this country (I was told on good authority that was set to happen this summer, originally) then I don't see how he doesn't do Glastonbury

Did you hear anything about why it never materialised this year and how it went down? Seems like him and Sam Fender kept cropping up but then of course it ended up being 1975. There was rumours he was burnt out IIRC.

You First, Figure 8, The News and Thick Skull are heavy, and not pop punk heavy like some of the earlier stuff.

Thick Skull is possibly the heaviest and nastiest sounding (in a good way) song they've ever made.

Hmm - I like This is Why but I would say it's a different kind of approach to anything before. Figure 8 is a nice song but hits a different vibe for me than saying it's part of the heavy stuff

I completely forgot about Fred, I do think if he keeps the momentum up by then he will absolutely be in contention especially since we thought it was happening this year.

I know someone mentioned this earlier but what do we think about Sabrina being a shout? I know Chappell and Gaga (and probably Rihanna) are probably the best calls to make for a female headliner but if this new album does well, could she step up too?

If that happens then I would go for them grabbing Fred, Fender and Oasis while padding out the sub slots and other stage headliners female heavy.

Not sure.

Burn out was doing the rounds. Maybe he decided it was time to write instead. Wembley Stadium I heard, specifically, dunno if other acts/dates there have a bearing.

Sure it will happen, whether it's next summer or the one after

I don't pay much attention to the Fender stuff, mainly cause it goes over my head, not my bag.

Would they not have just booked him this year though, if they wanted him? He could have very much had that 1975 slot, I imagine

I have a feeling Gaga will be pregnant soon, not sure if that could pause anything. She has been talking about kids a lot more often. We will have to wait and see.

I was thinking this.. but then Beyoncé played Glastonbury while pregnant so who knows!

Depends if Sabrina Carpenter's next album has any more massive hits I guess.

I’d be very surprised if Sabrina Carpenter headlined in the near future. I think if she wanted to play, she’d have accepted a Pyramid sub slot this year. Bearing in mind she’s only released one ‘hit’ album so far but is playing two nights in Hyde Park (which we know pays significantly better than Glasto), it gives the impression that her team/she is interested in raking it in as quickly as possible without trying to build a progression story of reaching the top of the bill of these stages (opposite of Olivia Rodrigo who deliberately toured smaller venues last time around). Also, from what I heard, the reviews of her Primavera set were not glowing.

I reckon Pink could headline if between her and the festival, they can negotiate the changes to staging she needs to put on her full show…a fallow year could help that. She seems to have played almost every other major festival in Europe by this point.

I dont think you can rule her out.  Not every headliner works their way up the bill from a tiny stage.  Some come straight in at the top and it's no big deal.  If Chappell Roan headlines it'll be exactly the same thing (although both of them in the same year may be a little too far of a pendulum swing).

She's at number one this week with the first single from her new album.  Its not like she's taking the pedal off the metal.

Dunno about Primavera but her arena shows were excellent.

I'd much rather Chappell.

To be honest many times a Pyramid sub doesn't go on to headline Glastonbury. I fact when it does happen, a lot its a case of a bump up rather than they were planned there. You probably can't find many subs that then headlined. I hope she doesn't though because on stage she doesn't look like a good live artist. She's inuendo and gimmick along with clearly not singing live enough.

Oasis seem pretty nailed on.

Sabrina Carpenter would be a good pop headliner.

One of your Glastonbury staples (Coldplay / Arctic Monkeys / Radiohead etc).

Cliff Richard for the legends slot.

None of Arctics or Coldplay is going to happen in 2027, that's virtually a guarantee.

I would bet a very substantial amount of money that Cliff never plays.

Wouldn't consider it a safe bet that Oasis are still active in 2027, it'd be a third year of touring for an act that famously has problems when they tour and has just put hundreds of millions in the bank.

That's absolute rubbish.

How? Coldplay took quite a while to come back, 8 years in fact as they said it was too soon for the 7th year and you think they might return after 3 with 1 of those being a fallow?

Arctics played two years ago after a 10 year gap with 2 fallow years in there so with 8 actual years you think they might return after 4 with one being a fallow?

The festival would have to be at it's most desperate point to even consider one of these two again that quick considering alternatives they will have.

I agree on Oasis and Sabrina is possible but as for the others you need to learn a lot about Glastonbury.

Okay then if it's not those two.

Oasis / Sabrina Carpenter / Radiohead / Cliff Richard (Legend)
