No way, they got lucky to headline the other. Not a chance they do the pyramid. Would make SZA’s crowd look like Elton’s

While I don't think they'd headline

They probably had 10× SZA crowd when they both played  at last years fest and that was with them clashing with Fontains.

Worthy farms got love for IDLES and they get t least double the crowd t glasto you'd expect them to get at any other fest.

“hardest working band around”, one of the most annoying statements in music, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re any good. Seem to remember it being said about Frank Turner, interesting 🤔 does it actually mean most shouty

It means touring and recording extensively and building your fanbase by relentlessly and consistently putting on good shows over the course of several years. Not blowing up on tiktok in a month, having a marketing fad ala brat summer and then charging obscene amounts for a handful of shows while not having the material for a 60min headline show.

But no, it doesn't mean they're actually good, or any better than someone who got big via tiktok.

There's a good chance they are tho.

To be fair, in a year where Gracie Abrams, who played 2 nights at the O2, is third down on the other then BMTH could be Other sub but I think they could be good counter-programming for a pop headliner like Chappell/Rihanna/Harry/Gaga. I didn't even think about both of them but that could be feasible, Paramore in either would work but I'd love to see what they would get to do in an Other headliner slot.

I think Gracie at least from selist fm only did one 02 date. I would see Paramore but I feel their best times have gone now and it's a booking that should have been made ages ago. It feels like they would be booking them when no one else really cares and I mean given their last festival booking....do festivals really care.

I was curious as to what venue size they might book for him. Tottenham Stadium feels bigger than I anticipated - thought they'd be likelier to do London O2.

Also, while it looks to have sold very well, some parts are £400+ per regular ticket. Talk about bringing US pricing to the UK alright.

He isnt the first one to do that. If people are willing to pay, they pay. You should see what The Who are asking for on their tour over here. Nobody wants to pay $800 for them and most venues are gonna be giving away tickets real soon

festivals still care. They had huge crowds at all their appearances. Dont know why they wouldnt go over at Glasto. And theyre the same damn age as Arctic Monkeys. Theyre not ancient. This is what happens when teenagers start bands  that end up lasting their entire lives. like you think all those audiences last summer when they opened for Taylor dont translate to fests? It does. They would have some of that nostalgia Avril survives on but they keep making new music thats relevant and evolve their sound. Why do people keep collabing with Hayley Williams if Paramore doesnt matter? Turnstile has her on their new record. David Byrne also. Theyre not the same band from 10 years ago and thats a good thing.

Given Paramore's last UK arena tour was a sell-out and they looked to be very well received by the TS crowd, you may be taking a different view of their stature to others.

Sam Fender, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles.

Oasis will be done and dusted by the time 2027 rolls around.

Chappell Roan could very well be in the frame by that juncture.

Think Bring Me the Horizon are at the level now where taking the Other headline slot could be an admission they'll never score the top spot.

Let's see how trajectory rolls in the next few years.

Last time they played Glasto they were mid-afternoon other stage. There's no way they'd ever be near headlining. Think they'd be lucky to headline Other Stage tbh.

Paramore were well received in front of Taylors crowd because they are a pop band now rather than a rock band. Paramore 10 years ago wouldn't have been booked to support Taylor on a big tour. It was a huge support to get so being well received at that doesn't suddenly change much.

I still think their best times as a rock band have gone. As a pop band and reaching out to a different crowd is something different. And the fact that now they are being spoke about as attending a festival for the first time that is undeniably in a huge pop era. Paramore subbing Glastonbury 10 years I'd have lapped it up, now not so much. And I mean why wouldn't they take the slots?, it's not like Download has ever booked them in a prominent slot the years they've bene talking then up or Readinf has had then back did co-headlining in 2014, even while literally on their door step to play....it couldn't have aligned any better

Plenty say this, plenty stress this. Just call it a hunch here.

They are headlining reading/ leeds to be fair and I think they have done Download too? So they're clearly bigger than their last glasto slot would suggest. Can't see them commanding a big slot at glasto tho

I do think next time they play, they will get their biggest slot yet and right now Other headliner would probably be most feasible. I remember seeing in some of the stage predictions for the last couple of years people putting them on the Pyramid during the day but I wonder what the crowd size would be for that.

Their last album had some of the heaviest stuff they've ever done and they were supported on their US tour by Foals and Bloc Party. They have universal respect from fans and artists in all genres of music and are still definitely a rock band.

Do BMTH needs that to happen to admit it?, they aren't ever headlining Glastonbury.

Wait?, are we trying to say This Is Why was as heavy as Brand New Eyes, Riot!, Self Titled and All we know is Falling? I've currently got Liar on and it's the highest song they've ever done.

It's heavier than After Laugher but that was purely a pop album so it wouldn't be difficult to be more rock.

They are a pop band now that still includes some rockier songs, that's absolutely clear.

You First, Figure 8, The News and Thick Skull are heavy, and not pop punk heavy like some of the earlier stuff.

Thick Skull is possibly the heaviest and nastiest sounding (in a good way) song they've ever made.

You're listening to a different album that me, nothing heavy bout them at all. Misery Business and For. Pessimist are 10x heavier than anything on this album. So is Decode, Now, Crush Crush Crush, Let The Flames Begin and so on and so on.

If I had to put money on now, the one I'd be most confident in is Fred. He was earmarked for this year by all accounts but it seems he's been doing a lot of writing. It would be pretty big/something different for someone like that to headline the Pyramid.

Chapell potentially.

The third in that instance I suspect would be a band. If the Oasis train is still rolling, the hype is still there and they're willing to lower their demands - you'd think Glastonbury will make an offer.

Fontaines are likely headliners next time round, in my opinion, but it's largely gonna be dependent on how they approach the next record, timing wise.

There has been some thought that the Fred train might have sailed.

I think Fontaines for 2028

I don't know anything on Fred, at the moment, but if he puts out a big record between now and '27 and goes down the stadium route in this country (I was told on good authority that was set to happen this summer, originally) then I don't see how he doesn't do Glastonbury

    • This is great. Friday and Saturday main are 🔥   If they do end up touring next year I could see a trio of Blink, Deftones & Maiden working quite well.

    • True and given how rapidly it fell apart for Piastri in the final third of last season, we do have precedents for it going wrong.   Although Antonelli did a brilliant effort to eke out Monaco pole yesterday against Verstappen while Russell's down in 6th. I know Russell was unlucky in China and Japan but in the last few weeks, Antonelli is starting to look like he gets the demands of this new spec of car better.
    • I didn't watch all of the England friendly last night but I did see some of it. Still seems like they have a few gears to go through. But then I also felt that for the Uruguay and Japan friendlies a few months ago, so... hmmm...
