Yes Biffy Clyro It's quite small outside Uk. At least in Italy where I live. I saw them two years ago in Milan, There were no more than 2/3k top people in my opinion. That was their only show in Italy

Their level does seem to be quite up and down tbf. At Pinkpop, they're the 4th highest name after Muse, Korn and Girl in Red.

Apart from TRNSMT in their homeland, Biffy seem quite happy to play non-headline festival slots this year. Doubt they'll come to Sziget (or be invited, more to the point) but I'd love it if they did. Such a great live act and they seem to play 'the hits' too.

I just did a stage split estimation for all days, and unless they started putting DJs in the Revolut tent (why would that happen) there are 20+ names still coming to the main stage and Revolut.

They had a run of four tet > overmono > nia archives in the revolut last year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a significant presence of dj’s in the revolut tent this year

They'll definitely have djs there but it was also wednesday > yard act > big thief right before that.

But that’s different tho. I definitely wouldn’t call Four tet and Overmono a DJ. 
 

Ok so I’m not a DJ expert so please help me out here:

 

I make a difference between DJ’s who mainly play other artists’ songs and their main thing is the transitions.

 

And artists like Overmono, Four Tet and Ben Bohmer who are first and foremost are producers and they basically only play their own songs live.

 

These second type DJs fit Revolut, but there aren’t many of these in the current line up as far as can tell. Plus there is no way they put techno in Revolut. And a large majority of DJs are techno.

I think the issue isn't whether they are DJs or not, rather it's whether they are live acts and will we know them? In exploring the undercard I've found quite a lot of stuff I quite like, but lots of people aren't invested in Sziget the way we all are.

 

So, if you just fancy a visit to a festival in Europe this year, will you take the time to explore the undercard of each one or will you just chose the festival whose line up has the most names you recognise? I suspect, for a lot of people, it'll be the latter.

It's just a bit wishy washy imo. If you want to go to a EDM festival in the region, you will go to untold. They have the big hitters, you wouldn't choose sziget over untold for the lineup. 

 

Likewise would you choose sziget over other mid August festivals that have pukka live acts? Like WOW.

I'm not sure it will bomb, I think day tickets could sell really well based solely on the announced headliners. Chappell, Charli and Post days should sell really well inparticular.

 

I think it needs a really strong 'final' announcement to boost 3 and six day ticket sales. If it's just DJs then it might struggle.

This really puts into perspective how many names we’re still waiting on to be announced

I would have said that RY X, Rory and Isabel La Rosa were all much more likely to play Revolut stage than main.

 

I think Noga Erez and S10 might also play Revolut.

 

Suspect Blessed Madonna will be Party Arena. Carlita too, possibly, depending on if she's playing or performing.

My thinking with Ry X and RORY is that these upcoming, small "poppy" artists often end up as the first act for main. And Noga Erez could definitely come to Revolut, I find them slightly weird witch to me matched better with the Buzz stage.

Noga Erez played Revolut in 2022 so I think she'll play there this year too
