Latitude 2025

Sting didn't look great on the box at Preston for Radio 2 the other day. Friends there in the crowd said it sounded far better in person, but the sound felt a bit undernourished, even if the Police were a power trio back in the day.

That original shout at the top of the thread? Biffy Clyro, Lorde and Pet Shop Boys? That would be a stonking affair. Three very good live acts.

It's not that Sting has been touring a poor set at all - it's just I have some severe reservations about that 3.0 lineup, even if it is back to basics.

Songs definitely seem slower than before too, which is probably more reflective of his age. He might not look 72, but he does seem to play like a man who isn't quite as fluid as he was back in the day. (And is anybody!)

Doesn't say what day he's on here but I'd imagine there will be more names before rhe end of the year

I've also added IoW as it gives an idea of who else is active next summer

Latitude and IOW trying extra hard to keep troublesome teens and 20-somethings away.

My best bet is he does the Sunday, that seems to be their chilled Radio 2 listener headliner now (Duran Duran, George Ezra, Snow Patrol having done it the last few years)

Melvin did an interview this morning and seemed to imply the next announcement will be by the end of next month, but I reckon it'll be November time with announcement 2 in January

JT can be discounted as a Latitude headliner I'd have thought as he is playing in Chelmsford a couple of weeks before.

I think the fact he also didn't confirm it at the same time as all the other 2025 summer European shows including IOW and Lytham also counts against him for this one.

I have absolutely no idea who the other 2 headliners will be next year.

How long ago were Stereophonics? seems like fairly recently but 2019 will be 6 years and George Ezra has been back since.

I don't know whether Fontaines DC could get a bump or whether they are just doing their own thing nest year with Finsbury park.  If they are doing festivals then they could be in with a should as a credible act.

You would think there would be a fairly big (but not massive) pop act but 12 months ago I would have said Charli xcx but she has blown up now so I think she is too big.  But maybe she is only the same size as Lana when she played, Dunno - she seems too hot for Latitude right now TBH.

Bon Iver is releasing new music but haven't seen any tour dates also, he feels like old Latitude rather than current Latitude so I don't think they would get the gig any more.

Sting was announced for Latitude at the same time IOW announced both Sting and Stereophonics so I'd be surprised if they have held that one back (and if they had 2 shared headliners as well).

I think Elbow could be in the frame for a return - they're doing their forest tour just before and it will have been 13 years.

Vampire Weekend perhaps? I know they are playing arenas in a couple of months and not sure if they've announced any summer festivals yet but I reckon they'd fit the bill well.

I would love Vampire Weekend and Elbow.  I'm seeing VW in December but they are a great festival band.  If they are doing festivals next year then it could be a good shout.

Love Elbow as well, would be so happy to see them as I've missed them on this album run.  Reckon they could be there in some capacity, not sure whether they are still headliners...but then Keane were this year so, maybe.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
