who ever it is its gonna play Mad Cool on July 10th i assume so Green Day unfortunally is out of the picture.

Linkin Park already got a show on July 11th on paris and dont seem to do back to back shows not even in the same city nevertheless in two coutries.

Muse last show is july 04 in Poland so it seems a bit far away to stop for a week and then jus play 2 shows in 3 days , logistically its very weird.

Green day last show is july 06 in greece but after what happenned in Mad Cool when they played there i doubt they will ever come back and they are not gonna sit around europe for a week just to play 1 show in Lisbon

Muse show before Poland is 1 week before in Sweden so can defo see them sticking around Europe, plus they probably all have properties in the UK.

Tbf Muse's tour involves them going from Finland to France to the Netherlands to Norway. It's not the most linear route to begin with.

I don't think they'll be the stand in at Werchter but with Mad Cool and NOS Alive being the week after the planned tour finale in Poland, the chance is higher than zero imo.

I hadn't realised Nine Inch Nails and Kings of Leon were originally supposed to be co-heads. I thought the new headliner was doing the 11th.

Am I alone in not having heard of whomever that is?

I'd not heard of him either, but watch the videos online. I realised immediately why he's headlining Sziget, the stage set up is incredible. E.g.:

it boggles my mind how Covoes didnt brought Alanis , Kaiser Chiefs and Weezer to NOS Alive.

Weezer i can understand because they dont have a huge following here but Alanis and Kaiser are very well known in portugal.

Kaiser used to come here a lot in the past but Alanis only came to Portugal 2 times if i recall. huge miscast on NOS alive

Alanis is because she decide to  tour in Spain instead making it impossible to come to Portugal

There's a part of me that wants to come over for a flying trip to see Muse day but the price of flights back from Lisbon is off-putting. Expedia wants an extra £60 or so for a flight that isn't involving an 8 hour layover in Amsterdam and landing on Monday morning for the way back.

Is there a cheap option for getting outta dodge on the Sunday?

Monday flights any cheaper? Admittedly you’d have to spend on a hotel so probs no saving but could have a look round Lisbon?

I can't get the Monday off work because of reasons to do with how my work lets us book annual leave. I think.

Lisbon's a wonderful city - I went there for a long weekend in 2023 and although it rained every day I was there, it was still great exploring. There's still a few things I've not visited so exploring those was something I'd like to do, so it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to wander around the gaff.

It may be that I'm being too ambitious. Although a Flixbus to Porto or Faro is still doable if need be. May have to just spend some time doing the maths.

The Muse setlist the other night was pretty good

Last half dozen or so songs are pretty much all I would have asked for to close a show.

Part of me as a mega-fan whose seen them multiple times was hoping for something more obscure. I get at a festival that everything from Time is Running Out onward is an essential, but a Butterflies & Hurricanes or a Showbiz would've still been nice.

Well that and I can't think of another big band who throw in so many instrumental interludes.

Aside from United States of Eurasia it wasn't really that exciting

    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
