Nope! The entrance is airport style and they will open and check your backpack. There will also be police present with sniffing dogs going around (not for alcohol 🙂).

There are several options for beer and other drinks apart from Jupiler at the main stands. 2x Apero (as Otto also mentioned above), speciality Belgian beer bar, Casa Bacardi, etc. You will not be disappointed by the number of options to choose from. From cocktails, to fancy wine or nice beer, they have it all. But they ain't cheap.

Cheers mate, tbf I’d normally just go with a plastic pouch in my shorts but I’ll see when I’m there.

Is Casa Bacardi still there? Looked fun in there but thought it had been removed.

Please tell me that those aren’t the only beer choices.

In fact, surely there’s more alcohol options?

This might be a good time to try a sober festival. Failing that, where’s the nearest supermarket?

This is one of the grips of European Festivals for me, the lack of cider or seemingly spirit of which is usually really pricey now options. I've never been a beer drinker and I know if Germany you won't get the cider unless you head to a more rock kinda bar. I went to dortmund for the German super cup while back now and they had no clue waa cider waa

Not sure if it will be there this year (if not it will probably be replaced by something similar). It's a nice spot for cocktails with DJs and dance music, and a shelter for when it rains. It turns into a..." schoolyard" at times though as it attracts all the 16-17-year-olds (aka day ticket holders of Sunday 😂), so if you are above your mid 20s or 30s, you may feel a bit old when that happens (half - joking).

Maribou State have just hit the must see list now.  Loving what I’m hearing.

Waiting now for those few names now but above anything the stage times to get fully planned.  The sun shining and music on has got me even more excited for it all.

Maybe try Hoegaarden Rose. I don't like regular beer. Rose beer or 'kriek' I do like when it's warm at the festivalsite.

For the past couple of years we've front loaded with beers/box wine/tins of g&T at the camp site then wandered over midday/early afternoon. Grabbed some lunch noodles/meat for €10-12 right outside at the food stalls and occasionally popped out for dinner there too. When inside snacked on frites/burgers and drink-wise jupilers at a coin each (equivalent of just under a UK half pint), some Belgian beer in a real glass in the "apero" bars - kwak, Vittoria - (think they were a couple of coin but larger in size), also some Aperol Spritz/Bacardi cocktails. Looking back - in 2024 we got through 100 coin each - i.e. 2 x €350 between us (plus cash on food outside) from Weds-Sun. We were at Hive Myspace so didn't have to spend extra on showers. You can always get a refund in infused coin after the festival ends, I think the admin charge is one coin.

Thanks for the replies about Leeds/Reading guys ! It's not what I expected but it's what I needed to hear...

Is Glasto the same ? (if I ever happen to get a ticket)

Absolutely not.  Glastonbury has a wide range of ages and pretty much everyone is respectful.  It’s typically a place you can go be whoever you want to be for 5 days.

So looks like Gel have split up (guitarist sounds like a scumbag), so we’re up to 3 names (maybe 4 with David Kushner) needing to be announced

Letlive to replace Gel please...

Not gonna miss any of them, so hopefully there is still time for RW to come up with something better. That said, Gel was probably one of the heaviest bands they had this year, so too bad for those looking for that genre.

Brace yourself for some Belgian replacements.

shame about the lack of heavier bands this year - not that there were loads last year and I'm going Jera on Air for that, but Parkaway Drive, Sum 41, High Vis, Palaye Royale, IDLES, Frank Carter, even the softer bands like Against the Current, Hot Mulligan and Neck Deep feel more than this year.

Amyl, Linkin Park, Green Day, While She Sleeps, Gurriers, Fontaines, Lambrini Girls, Amenra, at a stretch Fat Dog, Boston Manor, any else I'm missing?

You're probably right, but as I didn't plan to see any of them, it can't really send the line-up even further down the drain anyway. Kushner is probably the only one they've paid a bit for, so if he cancels one could always hope, but as he's playing the already sold out Sunday I would have placed my bet on what you said 😉

Deftones?

The Scratch, Heilung, Iggy and Wunderhorse are heavy-ish, but maybe not in the same way.

Sunday is definitely missing something like that.

Green Day and Fontaines DC aren't heavier bands, Green Day definitely not. Their punk rock band very much on the poppier side.
