Any likely candidates for this next announcement? Besides Rise Against who are like the Download equivalent of the bounty in the celebration box imo.

Still living in vain hope that Royal Republic make a return, very unlikely but eh 🤷‍♂️

If you are making a realistic guess look at who is playing other European festivals

Obviously is always possible they get a few exclusives

Anyone picked up on any rumours or gig/tour details that give away who will be added on Tuesday??

Think these are generally safe beyond the obvious FIR visa stuff. All at Nova Rock but no other commitments that weekend. Idles. Knocked Loose etc out on that basis.

The Warning

Falling In Reverse

Motionless In White

Rise Against

In Flames

Landmvrks

Not sure about Landmvrks, they're at Slam Dunk so not sure if there's gonna be any cross over.

I reckon Rise Against and MiW are nailed on.

Got a good feeling about Yellowcard as a potential 3rd stage headliner. They're around in Europe at the time and have no commitments on DL weekend. Refused could be another 3rd stage headliner, they're free on the Saturday and Sunday.

Dream Theater are free on the Friday and Sunday, but are in Austria on the Saturday, so not sure whether it'll work logistically. Dragonforce are available on the same dates too, seems like it'd be a good booking.

In terms of other bigger bands, there's a lot of chatter online about Slayer but I'm just not sure about it. They're in the UK for the Sabbath event but not sure if they'd come a few weeks before without anything else in Europe between.

Speaking of the Sabbath event, could potentially see a few of the acts from there on the lineup, namely Anthrax, Halestorm and Lamb Of God.

Either way, I'm cautiously optimistic. The 2nd announcement for 2024 was massive for me, hoping this will be the same.

I think a lot of the bands you’ve mentioned will be there (Rise Against, Motionless In White, Yellowcard, Refused, for example) but I can’t see the Sabbath gig having much bearing on additions as Download is a month before. I definitely don’t think Slayer are likely in any way.

Probs a few from the Sabbath event.
Slayer, Anthrax, Halestorm?
Recon there's a chance one of the 'supergroups' created for the event will pop up at the fest too since they're already at the fest/around.
If anything maybe a 'secret set' from someone fairly big at the event.

Bad Omens to make up for last year and they're around.
Motionless in White
Wouldn't be surprised at State Champs since it's usually them or Neck Deep (whichever isn't playing Slam Dunk that year)
You need an older pop punk act and a decent few played last year and the others are too big, so I'll just go All Time Low.

Scrap All Time Low.
Good Charlotte since they're back.

Refused in the tent on Saturday after Rise Against and Pistols on second is what I'm looking for. Refused aren't could also be 3rd down second but unlikely on the RA day as that has kinda happened before albeit years ago.

State Champs only played two years ago in the tent.

As I said they tend to just rotate between SD and DL for them and Neck Deep.
Both becoming almost house bands for both festivals.

Pendulum with a nice gap for the final day of download. Anyone think that's a possibility? I know they played fairly recently but I would love to see them.

You'd like to think no chance, unless they play in the dark there is no point. It was a dust bowl, average at best show last time, especially in the heat. Just does not go down well in the day time.

New poster shows a TBA for Wednesday headliner. 👀

Wednesday is traditionally a returning band. Can’t see Gallows with Frank being that. They would be the big sell of the whole weekend if they were to reform.

Personally, I think they would play a night or two (probably two) at Brixton if they reformed.

They were properly dull at Leeds last year although I heard they were much better in the tent the year before.

Just for the fun of it, in predicting 10 bands I think will be on Tuesday’s lineup announcement:

Architects

Rise Against

Yellowcard

Opeth

Motionless In White

The Warning

Zetra

Green Lung

Unto Others

Signs of the Swarm

I think Architects will be too, EU tour announced but no UK. Album out next week, likely Download and UK tour end of year.

I think they will sub Sleepy T. Originally, I think they had Falling In Reverse booked for that slot but with the whole VISA issue and Architects already being in Europe at the time, getting them in as sub makes all the sense in the world.

Last time I saw them in the tent in 2018 it was great. They aren't worth attending for a daylight outdoor gig. Drumsheds was great too even if the venue organisation was awful.

It's it just a bit boring to repeat a sub from two years ago again? It looked the idea was trying try and freshen things up a little bit.

It would be a last minute booking rather than the main plan, I would guess. FIR are subbing or headlining festivals in Europe, and since Ronald can’t get into the uk and screwed up that plan, download probably have just done what they’ve needed to.
