The thing is America is a lot bigger than the UK which explains headlining multiple festivals. Things have changed though, look at Linkin Park, Deftones, Limp Bizkit & Korn now doing their biggest ever shows over here. There's been a resurgence of popularity with these type of bands which means when SOAD announce something over here it'll be bigger than they've done before and it'll sell extremely well.

As I've said, all shows that Deftones, LP and Korn have done done recently are shows that as Download sub acts they should have been able to do anyway. Even The Libertines are playing Gunnersbury Park this year. LP have been huge for years anyway and done big tours, they are also on reunion hype but they are a different level to all those 4 bands mentioned above.

You realize that if SOAD announced a huge arena tour it would still be the biggest collective tour they've ever done in the UK?, the most they ever did in one year here was an arena in England and Scotland. Apart from that it was headlining Download. Reading for example booked the likes of Metallica and RATM back in the time they could have booked SOAD higher than a sub if wanted.

Maybe about 40ish and i reckon we will get day splits too

Some bands you can find if you go on their websites with tour dates, like it looks like SiM are playing on the Friday based on what's on their touring info page

There's a secret set, not headliner sized but a decent size 🤐

Is it trivium? Would make sense playing the same set that they give credit to them blowing up to some extent. Would also make sense why they can’t be announced based on bloodstock, also bullet and orbit culture are there.

The Prodigy or Idles would be my guess, any more info?

Did Idles say they’re not doing any UK dates this year? Feels like they avoid UK festival dates at all costs.

Edit: Did they announce a Bristol date or two?

Korn / Bullet For My Valentine / Spiritbox / Sepultura / Jinjer / Bleed from Within / Orbit Culture / Trivium (secret set)

that would be a hell of a Sunday. And a way to celebrate both 20th anniversary of the set that changed Trivium's career and The Poisoned Ascendancy tour with BFMV and Orbit Culture being there also.

I’m thinking Meshuggah 4th main Sunday.

The Poisoned Ascendancy tour… OH MY GOD.

f**king AMAZING. Bullet were really good but Trivium were unbelievable. The crowd was immense for them! What a wicked night.

The crowd went OFF for Trivium. We were in the exact same spot for Bullet and Trivium (a little in front of the sound desk) and there was little to no movement anywhere near us during Bullet. Trivium came on, it suddenly got busy af and then a pit opened up all the way to us and didn’t really close except for Dying In Your Arms. The singalongs (and scream alongs) were deafening for Trivium. The crowd were singing along to the guitar lines for every song. It was nuts.

The show was excellently sold. Standing was rammed and the only seats covered over were two small sections in the very back corners of the top row. Has to be a couple of hundred seats at most. Seating was packed.

I think that the venue is awesome, too. Best arena I’ve been to. Yeah it’s pricey but the food was banging, didn’t have to queue too long for the toilets or bars and there were water machines along the walls! Yeah, it’s £8.50 a pint but it’s Asahi. Considering most arenas charge £7.50/£8.00 for Carlsberg, if I was drinking (which I wasn’t last night), I’d rather pay 50p extra for a great beer like Asahi.

It felt oddly intimate for a massive arena too; that standing area is fantastic. Loads of staff everywhere, tonnes of entrances and exits.

Also found a car park 10mins walk away that cost a tenner instead of the eye-watering £25 the arena car park wanted.

10/10 gig. Brilliant, brilliant evening.

Trivium will headline Download one day, I am 100% sure on that.

They’re still only in their late 30s which is insane considering they’ve been around for forever. We could realistically have another 30+ years of Trivium. They’re 10 albums in as it is. Their time will come.

So after having been to Birmingham tonight for the Bullet tour, I thought Bullet were very better but I also like them more. If I'm honest, I could have picked a different band for them to tour with.

Nice addition on the tour of Waking the Demon as well from the following album.

Birmingham however still had tickets for all the main sections on sale this afternoon and it was very clear to tell it wasn't sold out. People were coming in solely for Bullet when I popped out for a pint though this could work for other nights for Trivium closing, just my experience. The 02 also still has tickets in virtually every area except for the front pit and the middle terrace areas for some. Why they've done a hell hole/snake fit for this gig I'm not sure, a bit odd. There are bands out there that charge comfortably more than these did too for arenas.

I don't either of these headlining Downlosd though at all, bands that have played gigs this size without doing co-headlining have only subbed Download before so unless the festival scale comes down a lot I see no chance. That's my view. It has likely ticked the box off for seeing them now though.

Biffy Only Revolutions 15 year anniversary in full please. ta x

Haha if only, right tour but wrong event. All I'm missing from my Biffy touring is a joint Puzzle/Only Revolutions in full. But I think the minute they do that they'll lose more interest in sales. Another reason why I think they do those small tours as well with one of the first 3 mixed with one of the next 3 is because it keeps a show with their most broadly favored two albums apart.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
