There's a few cusp shouts, but honestly not that many.

Stevie Wonder is a headliner.

Duran Duran are a legend.

Let's not have any revisionism, Simon le Bon.

Presumably if Duran Duran did get the top spot on El Pointo, there would be a lot of questions.

Yeah - I'd book them as Legends.

Comment was more around SLB being on record as wanting to be on El Pointo at night.  He probably wants headliner, but he's not going to get it so sub seems like a decent compromise.

Aha, so more the ego question than suitability. Gotcha.

If it clouds over heavily, it might just give the same impression.

Yeah Emily said on the annie mac podcast last year 'he'd have to headline' regarding Stevie Wonder

Last year, that would have been the unquestionable response.  But with his recent health issues, he might well be up for playing a shorter day time set.  Show him some footage of Dolly/Kylie/DiRo and their ginormo crowds and explain that the slot is reserved for the most accomplished and adored artists and I think we could be on to something.

He's currently playing 2 hour 30 shows in the US.

He played 2.5 hours at MSG the other night, he seems okay.

He's too big for the legends slot imo

Stevie's obviously a headliner - just positing a hypothetical where they go after someone like Rihanna or Hazza with Stevie as a back-up and they both say yes.

In which case switching Stevie to the Legend is a win for all - and potentially a slot he wouldn't be too sniffy about doing.

Too good to be true though.  We'll get someone like Squeeze.

Just reading a review of his MSG show and he said:

Then he refocused on the present and a particular former president: “I want you to show me a picture of people eating dogs and cats,” he said, with slow applause building to a massive cheer as what he was saying sunk in.

It seems even Stevie forgets sometimes!

Assume Rihanna is coming with a new record in tow next year? You'd hope she's blooded a few singles before hand, because if she goes down the traditional pop-star route of playing forty-to-fifty percent of a show culled from the new record, it could prove a little confounding.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
