I don't know if that's just as a lot of acts do, putting the first date of the festival down before the actual day splits reveal. They don't feel a very Thursday-type band.

Yeah I thought that. More  Friday or Saturday evening in far out. I think Jesus and Mary chain for Thursday and can't see them and metz then- might frighten the children

Thinking Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smile, Big Thief and Pixies are the mostly likely combination now (even given Pixies’ tour dates).  Just seems the most obvious right now baring someone more unexpected.  Not much stylistic difference between them for sure but that’s maybe not unusual for Green Man when you look back at previous years.

One bigger act that’s around that I’m not sure we’ve discussed is Massive Attack.  Probably too expensive but you never know…wanted to throw it out there.

Massive attack too massive I think! And they're playing a big one dayer in Bristol on the 25th so don't think they'd overshadow that. Are Leftfield in contention does anyone think?

Metz gig now listed on their website, and it will be on the Thursday night as they have other gigs listed on the Friday & Saturday (unless they play the Sunday of course).

Sheer Mag have also confirmed they are playing (on the Thursday as well, with only the Friday also free on their schedule).

Obviously it could be coincidence, but it's very interesting if they're loading that day deliberately and surely would confirm J&MC or similar as headliner.

I'm getting impatient now that the predictions are getting more honed in.

St David's Day is starting to feel like the obvious announcement date (Fri 1st March). It sounds like they will send out a pre-announcement to the announcement.

I'd be very happy with Big Thief, Pixies and The Smile. But would love there to be a Massive Attack/Beth Gibbons double bill on the main stage (however unlikely).

Last year they tweeted on 17 February (a Friday) that the lineup would be out on 1 March. So if they are sticking with 1 March this year, we can expect the 'announcement of the announcement' any time now

    • I agree that we’ll never really know up until the concert happens (and even then we still may not know) but I think promoters are having to come up with new tactics to combat ‘blue dot fever’ (already hating that phrase!) and trying to imply that concerts are selling better than they actually are / available tickets are in short supply is definitely one of them.    To add though, it is quite common at the O2 Arena for the rear blocks to not go on sale (and then remain closed for the concert and covered over to hide the empty seats). And equally common for standing to sell out first, then side/lower tier seating next and rear/upper tier seating last.    Jungle’s two concerts at the O2 are a good comparison for this - for their 1st (announced) date, all blocks are on sale and seats in all sections remain unsold, whereas for their 2nd date, the rear blocks are greyed out (more so than for Muse) and equally lots of seats remain unsold in the blue blocks. Standing for both concerts are showing as sold out.
    • MGK can and should headline. I was at one of his shows earlier in the year as a very casual fan, and there were a lot of alt people there. The show was actually class and he completely won me over. Anyone who opposes him headlining is just a gatekeeper imo, we need to move with the times.
    • Ultimately Glasto is just part of the festival circuit, however special we may think it is. The vast majority of its headliners have done many others
    • From Magyar’s FB:   ”Our country's energy and water supply is stable. As of today, voluntary consumption reduction is no longer necessary. The turbine at the Paks power plant is generating stably. Thanks to precipitation in Austria, the water level of the Danube will temporarily rise by 20–30 centimeters. Thank you, Hungary, for the unprecedented national unity shown in recent days! We have much to be proud of, and much to carry forward into the period ahead.”
    • I hope it stays under £400.  A lot of us aren't flush with cash.  Charities are great but do they need £1 mil (I jest)
