Ha. Unless you are outside of Barcelona, you are being totally scammed at that price though! Average salary in Spain is 27k.

But there's plenty of actual "performative woke" behavior going on in the world. Back when Albini came with that Twitter apology/growth thread in 2021, I had every reason to believe he was genuine and I still do, yet owning up to lesser edgelord behavior can also be used as a way to draw attention away from yourself so that you are considered an ally and people stop bringing your past up and/or look into it further. I do concur that it's better to create a better culture and not just go after people for the sake of punitive measures.

 

Anyway, 44 euros feels like a lot for a sideshow of The National, I wonder if you could still get a free Ciutat reservation later and then resell your Dice ticket.

Yeah compared to free though, and when people can just see them on Friday. That's my general point. I'd have probably forked 44 euros for an intimate gig myself but I'm a big fan. I can imagine a lot of attendees are indifferent.

on the contrary, I am worried that some acts might not be worth the hype live: Lana del Rey, sza? Anyone else? 
how is Billy woods live?

Agree on all of the above. I think Billy Woods is very similar to Earl Sweatshirt - great music, very good rapper technically speaking but not made for live music. I'll still go to the set, clash-depending but I wouldn't expect a great gig personally.

i saw sza live in london last year - great show! Super high level of production great live band, they‘ll deliver, nothing to worry here

FKA Twigs 2019 show is still one of the best things to ever happen at Primavera Sound. Came for the songs, stayed for the flaming sword dance.

 

Balming Tiger are making a name for themselves mainly because of how fun their live show is. Definitely worth venturing to a smaller stage to watch them.

 

Arca is going to have the hometown crowd and will play a true clusterf**k of sounds. Always special live.

 

I am really curious how Troye Sivan is going to sound. His latest album has consumed me and I'm praying he does it justice.

That twigs show was otherworldly, one of my favourite primavera shows of all times, will be hard to beat

 

I‘m pretty hyped about sega bodega, love the album and maybe arca will show up at that one too

Seen SZA's Lollapolooza performance a few weeks ago. It was abysmal. Karaoke stuff. Backing track etc. Singing bits and pieces of the songs.

I saw arca 4 times, one was unbelievably good, the other were underwhelming. Last time I saw them was at primavera 2018 (which wasn’t special imo). All dj sets with some performance elements. Has the set changed since then? Otherwise I wouldn’t mind that much seeing them

 So a bit like a DJ set, like Justice, Chems, but with miming (and some live vocals thrown over the top)?  I think it's ridiculous too, as live acts should perform live for credibility, but maybe just treat someone like SZA like a DJ set?

She has a band. I wouldn't call it a DJ set at all. And I wouldn't call a backing track in rap/r+b miming unless it's like the whole song. Even the greats like Kendrick often have a backing track underneath to fill the small gaps.

That's a good point regarding the band. I actually want to see SZA, but interested to know if she actually good live overall, regardless of whether she sings live for the entirety of her set or not. I'm not even a fan as not followed her properly, but I like Kill Bill from the brief Spotify shuffle of her songs I've done. It's just a shame when an artist has to mime during their set as you may as well just put a lookalike up on stage. You don't even need to be a great singer to be a great live act.
