Happened to me as well. A very nice taxi driver and I was tired at 04h in the morning, so I payed what he wanted, but realized just after leaving the taxi and figuring out the amount from Forint to Euro that I payed 60 Euro instead of 15 Euro. I never take a taxi again, public transport is fine. You can get back to the city with the train at any time.

By law every taxi has to display the cost automatically. There is a counter in the taxi that shows the amount in forints. They introduced these measures exactly to stop taxis overcharging

Does the H5 run throughout the night during the festival?

In 2022: Yes. At times in the night there was a big queue and not all people could get in. Hoping there will be even more trains running this year in the night.

but it comes like every 5-10 min. so even if you miss one its not too bad.

I manage to get in everytime without any problem, it is indeed very frequent. The unpleasant part was then taking the Tram that connects the entire eastern part of the city (pest), it was exceedingly crowded every time.

If I remember correctly, the Chain Bridge was closed last year, it might be easier this year since it is open to public transport again.

There is absolutely nothing surprising about Boygenius not being on the lineup, they are completely unknown in Hungary and probably the organizers don't know them either, we are at least a decade behind the rest of Europe here and the line-up reflects that perfectly every year.

Though that's a pretty strong statement, I kinda feel the same with Wet Leg. However, we did get the likes of Girl in Red and Mimi Webb, so I wouldn't say that we don't get anyone new.

I'm still hoping that Wet Leg might sub Mumford and Sons but I suspect there's more chance of making a snowman in the Sahara.

I don't think any more names will come out. Isn't the main line up done and dusted now? (I know, Hungarian acts, circus, etc. are still coming)

shit.. please don't give me hope 😞

edit: yeah I just counted, there were 7 "freedome" names for each day last year, now it's mostly 5. So it seems like we're waiting for about 10 new names for A38.

Also, it seems like Sziget didn't claim in their posts that the line up is complete, but correct me if i'm wrong.

Don’t expect anything big though. Out of that 10 acts, at least half of them will be late night DJs (mostly fillers, pretty much unknown names and local DJs) and the rest could be just small bands filling the opening slots.

But you can still expect full lineups for Party Arena, Europe Stage, dropYard etc.

Agreed, but if some of those small bands are nice niche bands, like The Comet is Coming, that would be nice.

Also we are still missing 3 main stage names, but not expecting anything worthwhile there either.

Probably all of them will be Hungarians though. Last year we've had 4 Hungarian artists on the main stage at 4pm.

in new graphics Ben Böhmer and SG Lewis had been moved from main to freedome, Lazza on the other side is listed as Main stage artist.

So we are missing 4 main stage names, last year we had 4 Hungarian names on main .. do the math 😄

But Ben Böhmer and SG Lewis are still on main stage on website, I am confused

I'm keeping my, ever hopeful, fingers crossed for a 'known' name sub to Mumford and Sons to boost day ticket sales. I'm almost certainly going to be let down.

I literally had a dream that they announced Ellie Goulding as a sub for Mumford and Sons 💀💀💀

That's not a dream, my friend. That's a nightmare of epic proportions. That 1-2 would be straight from the frying pan into the fire.

Reasons I don’t like living in Hungary under the current regime, number 484188. Pointless threats towards the festival again.

“Sziget could easily cease to exist if we, at the (newly created) cultural committee decide that we won’t allow any festivals to take place at the part of Hajógyári Island that now belongs to us.”

“If I would get really tense I could say that since it’s not owned by Hungarians anymore that means we’re not interested in keeping Sziget Festival alive. Of course, we can’t think like that, because the cultural value of this festival is much more important than what I’d like to do with the island.”

“I sat down with Tamás Kádár (CEO of Sziget) and told him that from now on we’re not allowing 30-year-long contracts but a one year contract that can be renewed annually, when we can discuss who’s doing what, when and where (…).”

It’s probably nothing and won’t have any consequences, I’m just sick of these clowns threatening everyone all the time. A friendly reminder that it only takes a second for them to abolish anything good.

    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
    • I reckon it'll be deftones and Biffy clyro
    • If Friko are replacing The Beths that's a very rare example of a band being replaced by another band who I'm equally eager to see. Great news.
