If the "worst case forecasts" becomes reality, I would definitely recommend wellies in the festival area. A few hours of light rain won't be a problem and won't make your shoes more than dirty, but if it comes in the amounts that has been predicted in some forecasts it will be muddy in areas. It's also worse if the rain comes toward the start of the festival. We had one edition where it rained all for days and even though organizers were really good at covering up the worst areas during night time, it still was really muddy.

You don't lose much of bringing them with you. Yeah, they take up space, but just pack them full of stuff 😉

Thanks. I only had ankle high waterproof hiking boots so hoping that they will suffice.

That will probably do, unless we get in the middle of a really hefty thunderstorm. Considering those myself 🙂

I'm up to it! One more day at work and tomorrow by this time we'll be arriving at the rockvillage for four days of fun, good music, beer and party. Let's do this.

I hope there will be a bar with an excellent view on the slopestage, because that's where I'll be heading most.

If my brother arrives to Leuven on Wednesday after 10pm, is there another way to get to the festivalpark other than the shuttles (ends by 10)?

I came by Uber (or Bolt or similar) in 2018 from Brussels because I arrived to the city at like 1am. Found one in 30 seconds, the guy was super annoyed (but didn't say anything to me directly) because he didn't know the festival started and they closed a ton of roads around the festival

I believe taxis are no longer allowed to drop off people near the festival grounds. But don't know if that starts on Wednesday since there are no shuttles at that time.

Yeah, they left me 15 min walk from the camp back then as well

Also, the forecast for the weekend got better it seems

Hearing all the red crosses complaints for Charlotte de Witte, I can't imagine how bad it will be for Fred Again.. At this point, they must know that extending the Barn once every two year will not solve the problem. They need to somehow open it similarly to what is done at Lowlands. But then there are soundbleeds...

Iggy Pop got closed like 30 minutes before for sure judging from the inside. Also it was pretty funny how like 30 of us left after Charlotte for Iggy lol completely different groups

Leaving for Werchter soon! Only going one day this year but can't miss the Red Hot Chili Peppers! For the weather forecast, I usually look on the Google Meteo they put on the top of the research. Results are credible, like most of the other websites. Enjoy!

Also, the amount of people in front of the barn before Editors was enormous. Never saw something like that. RHCP crowd seems huge as well. I'm sitting now waiting for it. Today was a much better day than yesterday.

Viagra Boys and Squid were 2 biggest highlights

Festival f**ked up for Editors. Those red crosses are nonsense. Thousands left before the end and noone could get inside. The same red crosses that were showing cos Bears Den was 'full'

Editors could maybe be the biggest bummer in RW's history. I talked to the security as thousands left towards the end for RCHP, but they told me they wouldn't open no matter what and that it was closed for the night. That's just stupidity put in system...

I hope that someone from the organisation was there taking notes of what happened on Thursday during Iggy. We were in front of the Barn ~45’ in advance and didn’t manage to get in (it would ‘ve been our highlight of the day - it still hurts 😭). A huge crowd was waiting for a very long time outside in the rain hoping that the doors will reopen to get in. We gave up after approx 1h realising that they don’t intend to reopen (tbf this was wise as due to the size of the crowd they wouldn’t be able to control ppl and close the doors again). The big screen area was packed with ppl watching Iggy outside in the rain! Out of curiosity we went towards the main stage and I have never seen it emptier. It felt like the tents side of the festival was busier than the main.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that RW gives stage to all kinds of music. But (as expected) someone like Stormzy is simply not co-headlining material for this place. He just isn’t. There are a gazillion other festivals where this would have worked but not here. Iggy would have filled up two Barns that night I think.

Other than that great festival so far despite the non-ideal weather.

PS: Imo the Barn has become too big for the surrounding area. If they want to keep it like this they should consider expanding the grounds if possible. It used be a nice and relaxed area now it’s constantly super busy.

PS2: The new slope is super!

PS3: I may be the only one here but I think RHCP were great both this and last year. It didn’t bother me one bit seeing them two years in a row (especially considering the options).

If you were thinking Iggy was bad… Editors was much, much worse. The WHOLE Barn area was filled whereas you could easily walk to the first rail during Liam’s set at the main…

Stormzy would have been way too big for the Barn as well, mind.

    • Jai Paul was massively underwhelming, but Barry was exxxxxxcelent
    • On a serious note,  would anyone be up for an efestivals meet up tomorrow?  Me and @allribena will be ootnaboot
    • My minor grumbles from today: I didn’t realise the bands would go on until after midnight. I missed the headliners as it was past my bedtime.    I went to all of the bars and not one of them sold Blue WKD. Nor did they do White Russians.    Why aren’t there seats around the other stages like at cupra?   Too many people in hats.    Nowhere to take your shoes off.   Water taps only did still water- no sparkling.    I got a stone in my shoe.    Not enough men with beards- have they gone out of fashion?   People didn’t extinguish their marijuana cigarettes when I requested them to.    Not enough people complimented my witty t shirt.   Nowhere sold Staffordshire oatcakes or Derbyshire pikelets.    Too many toilets.    My nunchucks were confiscated upon entry
    • Ngl I'm so tired. Barry was great though
