Beautiful Days 2022

I've booked a hotel nearby so this year's Beautiful Days will be experienced straight - my first sober since I started with Glasto in 94.

Camping at Bearded Theory this year caned my back by Saturday morning, plus I want to see what it's like when I don't mask my massive social insecurity with substances. I'm finally catching up with my age!

However, if it's torrential rain, then I'm getting trolleyed - no way I'm putting up with that mud 🙂

All focus now turns to BDs! Looking forward to quite a chilled one after Glastonbury, planning a lot less charging around and a lot more sitting down.

Yeah, looking forward to this year, decent line up

Dreadful line-up (somehow worse than last years).

I've turned down a free ticket.

Much better imo.

I'd 100% see Flogging molly and The Specials headline, and Bob Vylan are a lock for Sunday arvo.

In order of preference I'd also really like to see:

Lars Frederiksen
Billy Bragg
Maximo Park
Snapped Ankles
Dandy Warhols
Craig Charles
Dat Brass
Gaudi
Beth Orton

Four absolute must sees, plus several regular things in the Bimble Inn, and the silent disco for some fun after main stage shuts.

Plenty there for me. Shame I'm abroad.

It is - better than last year. I’m out of the country for it, otherwise I’d be in.

Well that's obviously subjective, but the triple headline of Frank Turner / James / Levellers was pretty much a perfect festival for me. Adding in Gary Numan was a bonus 🙂

Need to get some listening in, currently going in a bit blind!

Reckon a chunk of Friday will be in the Big Top, that run of Magic Numbers > Fisherman's Friends > Beth Orton looks tasty in a nice chilled out kinda way.

Intrigued by Tony Wright's solo stuff as was a fan of Terrorvision, so be cool to see him in a completely different style. Definitely want to see Opus Kink, and the main stage run of Interrupters > Maximo Park > Specials is decent. I've seen Specials before when it was only Dammers missing, so Imagined Village might get a look in. Also looking forward to introducing my brother to Snapped Ankles.

Sunday's pretty fluid. Brother will want to see Seasick Steve and the Barstewards for certain, can see the rest of it being fairly play it as the day goes.

Yeah, I think the headliners were stronger last year but the undercard is better for me this time. Frank was amazing, and we caught the tail end of James and they sounded fantastic. Only caught a bit of Numan but went to see him in Brighton earlier this year on the strength of that!

FM are tempting, never seen them before. Here and now I'm seeing a more chilled out fest after the madness of Glastonbury so Beth is winning, although it might change!

You should be able to see both, with just a 15 min overlap. If they stick to the timings of the last few festivals, the main stage headliner is 21.45-23.00 and the big top headliner is 22.45-00.00.
so get on the right side of the crowd for Flogging Molly and then leg it to Beth, sorted. I’ll be doing exactly that! Will decide on the night which 15 mins to miss

Yeah, a lot of it will come down to timings.  But I did so much moving between stages this year (which I wouldn't change as I saw so much!) that I didn't get much downtime. I know the stages are close so it's hardly a marathon, but looking forward to being on a bit less of a timer at BDs.

I know what you mean. This is the only clash I’ll be running between, other than that, I’ll just go with the flow. Going with a fairly big group this year so there’s bound to be some of my gang wherever I end up!

And it's REALLY good. I'm not understanding why they are below Maximo park..

Not uncommon for festivals to fail in line-up order.

The only stage, I'm aware of, that consistantly get it right is West Holts at Glastonbury.

Maximo Park realistically have a higher UK profile.  Not exactly massive, but more people would know who they are than thehy would The Interrupters.  Not much more to it than that really.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
