U.S. Presidential Election

Trump’s thing largely just seems to be him complaining about how unfair it is that the Dems kicked Biden aside and how much worse Kamala is, so no real surprises so far.

There were rumblings he might be dropping out, but that doesn’t seem likely at all, or that he was dropping Vance, which was more likely but doesn’t seem to be the case. Just seems he’s annoyed that he had victory snatched away from him and is trying to act like he feels for Biden.

Also hilarious revelation - Trump’s whole Hannibal Lecter thing seems to have come from him mistaking ‘seeking asylum’ with something to do with mental asylums, which is why he keeps jumping from illegal immigrants to his Hannibal Lecter bit. Absolute idiot.

omg what a farce

Dude is cooked. Whole thing was clearly done in an act of desperation and Trump being Trump just made himself look even weaker - whole of Twitter, even people on his side, are just laughing at him and saying that was the death knell of his campaign. I think the assassination attempt has shook him a lot more than he’s let on (and rightfully so, tbf)  and he’s just totally off his game. It would be sad to see somebody going out like this if he wasn’t such a piece of sh*t.

They seem to have been totally thrown by Biden quitting.. surely they should have realised that was a real possibility and have a plan for it.

You could be right about the shootng though, he hasn't had a chance to process that. Would shake anyone up, even a superman like Trump.

Yeah the assassination attempt and a week later Biden dropping out just shook him to his core and he’s been spiralling since, especially with Kamala coming out swinging and then some. He’s basically begging for Biden to re-enter the race after five years of saying he’s unfit to lead.

Has agreed to the originally planned debate on September 10 now so looking forward to that.

the loonies are deserting Trump

RFK seems to be getting around 6% in the polls (for some reason) and that’s definitely skewing more towards people who would otherwise vote for Trump so would be hilarious if he’s what ends up costing Trump the election.

Seems unlikely, as generally rfk has dropped to average 4.1% in the polls.

Gap increasing between Harris and Trump every day or two though (now 2.4%)

Tbf RFK was actually polling higher earlier on this year. Seems to be the way that third party candidates will look stronger but shed support the closer we get to the election itself.

Whether Joe Rogan choosing to endorse him will move the dial is another matter.

This kind of equivalency is so wrong. The Democratic Party today has shown no overt signs that they want wars in the middle east, while they may not be able to prevent such conflicts from arising, and we can certainly question their judgement and loyalties with regard to Israel and Palestine.

Trump on the other hand has already laid the groundwork for withdrawing from NATO and said on record that he would encourage Putin to invade NATO countries. That's what leads to WW3.

not sure trump will want a war, his initial political pitch was about avoiding getting bogged down in foreign stuff, so he'll lose a heap of support if he revs up for war.

You don't need to actively want a war to make one more likely.

He’s also announced two more debates (one on Fox, of course) that he’s completely made up and which are obviously a ploy to back out of the agreed upon debate after claiming Kamala backed out of his fantasy debate first.

His mental state is gonna go to absolute tatters over the next couple one months. The reality of him losing again is truly setting in and he is not taking it well. Really do wonder what he’s got up his sleeve in the interim between the election and the swearing in in January.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
