It’s wrong and the fault of a stupid system. However in the same position I would probably do the same for my son.

me too biden makes a good case about malicious prosecution, and the pardon is very reaSONABLE AGAINST THAT

no, sorry...he said he wouldn't pardon him, and then he did...because he is president and has that power. So...now Trump or whoever follows can do the same. Either no man is above the law, or they are because they are the son of the president.

trump doesn't need biden to do something bad  to do something bad himself. trump is like johnson, shameless, and will do what suits him.

no, but it just helps with the they're all as bad thing.

It is more difficult for Democrats/liberals to do the moral high ground thing now, that is the reality.

clinton (democrat!) pardoned a massive paedophile, so there's always been something bad to point at!

The most interesting question right now is the extent to which Trump is actually MAGA. The Rest is Politics US had some interesting commentary on this.

The idea is that Trump uses his base in a way that benefits him. The evidence for that is his public flip-flopping over decades including donating to various democrat causes or campaigns. Trump isn’t actually interested in MAGA beyond how it serves him, and would be happy for it to die after his second term, so he can egotistically claim that it was all to do with him personally.

So what for his second term? He doesn’t need MAGA any longer. Hence why he’s cosying up to rich ‘friends’ and taking stances they disapprove of.

That implies next level degree chaos as Trump does whatever the hell he likes, pisses off his angry, armed base in the process, and to hell with the future.
