Todays numbers ... 😞

During the holiday period, the COVID-19 Dashboard will be updated every day, but the amount of data being updated will vary

Love how those graph show the rates starting to go down thanks to the lockdown, before Johnson and co unceremoniously ended it, to appease the anti-lockdown brigade, leading to a massive surge at the worst possible time and the need for an even harsher lockdown for a longer period of time.

Lucky you @oneeye.  I've been told my copies won't arrive till Mid-January, so I've still not see what it looks like in print.  Thanks for your support and happy reading.

I've got a curry getting delivered for tea.

Even this good news is bad news... I ordered a sensible chicken tikka bhuna and what I got was a chicken tikka masala. Like eating chicken in tomato soup.

Time to move onto another establishment.

Taken from another forum...

Case rates per 100,000 population over the last 7 days

Wales 17,507 cases      555.3
Scotland 6,256 cases        114.5
Northern Ireland N/A Data not currently available for this metric. 0
England 226,191 cases       401.9

England and Wales now out of control.

Oxford, we need you. We need you bad.

Wales’ numbers have actually dropped every day for the past 4 days which tells you how much shit we were in and we didn’t even have much of the new variant.  It’s certainly a really bad time and mentally i have written off January and February.

On 12th April we had just over 4,000 confirmed cases that day, so we’re reporting 10x more now with the same amount being hospitalised.

Testing capacity was non existent, certainly no community testing. 4,000 was more likely to be 40 - 60k a day

41,385 new cases - UK

2,960 new cases - France

Not sure if we are doing particularly badly or the French have been tough and got a handle on it.  Hell of a difference...

Didn’t they have nighttime curfews in all the major cities ? When things started peaking about a month ago ?

Answered my own question. Spot the outlier...jesus.

That is grim, our government really have handled the pandemic appallingly.

Different peaks at different times. They had nearly 90k cases early Nov.

They went up, then down.

We went up, then down, then up again (and still rising).

To the untrained eye, it looks like our measures were nowhere near tough enough.

    • Been going for 10 years. Wasn't massively keen on the lineup beforehand - although as usual after some research I did start to really look forward to it. We had a brilliant time, felt more like old school Latitude, lovely vibe and we met some nice people. We saw loads but highlights for me -   Lime Garden Florence Road Jalen Ngonda David Byrne - Not a fan of him or TH really but we went out of interest and it was one of those festival shows that you'll never forget. The staging was off the scale. Eleni Drake - Up on BBC Introducing, what a haven that stage is.  Westside Cowboy Getdown Services - Probably highlight of the weekend for me. Absolutely brilliant and have booked tix for them in Bristol next year. Everything Everything - They're my favourite band so I loved it when they were added. A great start to Sunday and met loads of their fans up near the front. Alex James Britpop - We enjoyed it and Gary Stringer FFS! David O'Doherty - Saw him twice, brilliant as usual. Self Esteem - Adore Rebecca and the show was as live affirming as always.   Overall, it was such a brilliant weekend. Beforehand we said that we might give it a miss next year but I'm pretty sure that we'll be sucked right back in!
    • Me too.  Reckon they must have more this year.   Not bad is it - ended up paying same price as this year.  It still represents great value for me.  Well, until I check my bank account the Monday after the weekend.
    • Well mayors have more powers to do that sh*t...but they have to make the numbers add up.
