Surely not, that would be ridiculous

I would agree but I'd also say Orbital are too big to do dance field, but I think with it being 50th, we're gonna see some weird bookings. Who knows, this all might end up being incorrect, just relaying what was said today.

I can see Orbital doing the big dance tent (Sonic is it?) because of the impact that they had on the presence of dance music at the festival, but I do think it will put some people off from going. It seems less of a draw than one of the big stages, but on the plus side it might mean that they start after the general headliners?

Because they're too big? I dunno, saw them DJing a couple of years back on the old Arcadia spider and there weren't that many people there.

Pretty much, yeah. I really like them and I'd be very happy if that happens (although I can only imagine what the clashes will be), just seems a little unrealistic to me with the size but who knows

If they’re after the main headliners it’ll be absolutely swamped. I’d love to see them again. Always fantastic.

This is what Phil said, he was asked a question about Glastonbury and the impact (hehe) they had on getting more dance acts on at the festival. Said something like them being one of the first on and how it's mad that this year they'll be closing the dance field.

They were great last night at this

Fantastic wasn't it! I wasn't totally keen on the venue though.

I'm trying to work out which was the new track and which was the super old one they've only played a few times live that they were talking about.

Never been a fan of the refectory but thought atmosphere was great and good mix of old gits like me and younger folk enjoying it

Yeah, crowd were good for sure!

I ended up only seeing Orbital in the end, went for Holroyd but the queue was a mile long outside the venue so I sacked it off.

Yes. We were in that queue for Sheaf St but managed to get in. 1st time I'd been in there and thought it was good. I went to orbital on my own as my mates went to Freedom Mills but that was really quiet so they ended up at the refectory too

I'm totally new to the area so I made sure to try and get to everything early. I got lost finding the Refectory and ended up find Orbital's tour bus 🤣

That was the only downside about it was all the venues are quite spread out. I only did Distrikt (which is a favourite of mine anyway on the odd occasion I do ho into town) Sheaf St and refectory. I had thought about heading to HiFi as mate was DJing there but didn't bother in the end

Yes, but a groove armada live set will be much more popular/is a much bigger booking than a DJ set

Setlist picked up from the Orbital group on FB. One Day is a very old song that was never released, someone said it has parts that sound like Omen. I guess Treadmill is the new one as I don't know any of their tracks named that, but then i'd never heard of One Day either.

Yeah i'm on the group so been dissecting it all with them. Seems like Lush was in reserve.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
