Something about repeating the same mistake and expecting different results.

I’m confused because the only place I hear AM’s sets getting a bad rep is on here...

I saw them in 2013 and they were good. Not a gold standard headline set... but the setlist was good

It's also been discussed on here previously that that set also went down well with the TV audience (including me). They're not popular on this forum but AM in 2021 would be an extremely well-received booking I imagine.

Yeah they are a popular booking at any U.K. event. Especially since they’ve decided to stagger out their appearances. Feels like they are harder to see now than they used to be. Believe it or not there will be thousands of fans who have never seen them.

Probably cos it's the only place where past Glastonbury sets are discussed at any length.

What!? You’re telling me that people in real life don’t debate between themselves who the missing sub in 2020 was?

Always amuses me that you proprogate the “AM bombed at Glastonbury” myth more than anyone and you weren’t even there... It’s one of those things that only a few people on eFests seem to say yet somehow has become gospel.

I was there and I enjoyed them.

I think AM criticism is usually based on the fact that they refuse to fade in relevance. I can’t really think of any other band that is STILL a big deal with teenagers. Whether you were a teen in 2006 or a teen in 2020 they are still a big deal with your age group. I can’t really think of any other act with that kind of longevity.

Whether you like Alex turner or not, the guy isn’t going anywhere. Whether he’s 17 or 40 he’s an idol to the kids.

(not saying that AM for kids - the point I’m saying is they still aren’t seen as ‘old news’. They seem to continuously gain new fans).

Except it's weebaws mumbling on about his "propeller"

You leave those bairns alone.  They're my favourite people on t'interwebs at the moment. The lad on the left also does great BB King / someone's dropped a nasty eggo facial expressions.

Why do you flat earthers think that the reception of their last headline set is from people who weren’t there and don’t like the band?

Because it’s mostly driven by one guy, who by his own admission wasn’t there and doesn’t like the band.

I have no beef with the reaction twins. Or indeed In The Air Tonight.

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
